Re: The Official NHL 2020-2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
Guess I shouldn't throw stones, its 1 more than the Leafs as of now.
But I'm not sure what the Oilers can do. Going into the playoffs we knew the Oilers had the best player and best goalie (at least for this season) of the north division.
But the Jets just owned them.
If Jets were able to do that to McDavid/Draisaitl, hope that doesn't mean they'll be able to do so vs Matthews/Marner. Especially with Tavares out.Comment

The Wild got outshot 22-1 in the 2nd period last night lolComment

Yet still managed to win the game.
33-7 from period 2 onwards, but each team scored once.
Similarly with Leafs/Habs. Montreal outshot them 15-2 in the 3rd yet Leafs somehow held on.
Pens vs Islanders as well last night, Pens outshot them 20-4 in the second and ended up losing in 2OT.Comment

McDavid didn’t play to his abilities but the Jets got away with everything on him. He should have dived more to get calls, since that’s the only way refs call penalties in the playoffs.
His NMC doesn’t kick in until after next year so I suspect he’ll request a trade then if he wants to so he can control where he goes to, and not Buffalo.Comment

Drives me nuts how Canadians bash their star players and deify their jobbers.
Edmonton's 2nd line wingers last night combined for SIX points in the regular season. Tippett had to hide half of his players in OT, because they stink. And the Oilers are healthy!
And the main problem is McDavid and Draisaitl aren't intense or care about D enough? BS.
Sakic and Yzerman and Stamkos (and Mario, for that matter) never won bubkis until they were surrounded by talent that ranged from All-Star to HOF.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Similar salary going in and out while also giving up enough value.
My dream would be a package centered around Marner, but I don't even see Oilers taking that.Comment

He won't traded but my answer is always "Vegas" when a top player is available.

We all know 99% of people at ESPN probably couldn't even pronounce Lemieux, let alone say who he is.
But I hope SAS is actually telling the truth. I don't care for those types of shows, but if he is serious about actually doing hockey coverage, doing his usually screaming bit but for hockey, that's good for growing hockey, as crazy as that sounds.
Same should apply for others at ESPN too. You might not know hockey, but you're a sports personality. Learn whatever you're required. It would be like someone in an office needing to learn a new software. You might have never used it before, but now that your company is involved with it, do your part to learn it to better yourself at your job instead of stubbornly writing it off.Comment

Marner still cant score in the playoffs, and Thornton is playing like a guy who is in his 40s.
Why Leafs haven't thought to rest Thornton is beyond me. Especially against a team like the Habs who do play physical.
Edit-Reverse psychology worked.
Leafs win 4-0! Now up 3-1 in the series! 1 more and they win this!Last edited by Majingir; 05-25-2021, 10:07 PM.Comment

Haven't watched other games this season.
Just saw a few minutes of Islanders vs Pens. Obviously fans there are crazy, and great hearing a Yes chant again.
With that said, what have been the best crowds in these playoffs?
And don't tell me I have to see Islanders vs Bruins in 2nd round. NYI vs Leafs in the 3rd round, with Leafs playing out of Buffalo could be brutal for the Leafs going up against the crowds.Last edited by Majingir; 05-26-2021, 07:59 PM.Comment
