It's about what I expected. No Canadian team is ever going to receive a "hometown discount". Most likely all of Vancouver's key free agents (Lindholm, Joshua, Zadorov) are going to walk. The only other D-men currently under contract are Hughes, Soucy, and Noah Juulsen. I don't think Hronek's a true 2D, but are the Canucks going to find a better RD for less, especially with cap going up? I doubt it.

By making it a hard cap you're just anchoring the teams who are already at a disadvantage.Comment

Surprised that's all it cost, but guess his last 2 seasons is what dictated his price, not how he was in 21-22 .Comment

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason
Dubois to Capitals for Kuemper.
Could be a win for both sides.
Kuemper struggled with the Caps and Lindgren did much better for them and costs way less.
Kings get rid of Dubois who struggled with them after being a borderline 30-30 guy before LA and has a big contract. Kuemper would be their Talbot replacement.
Caps with PLD could give them another shot in the playoffs before the Ovechkin era is over.Comment

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason
If they completely tank once Ovechkin is done, they'd have PLD for 5 more years at 8.5m at the age of 27. Might not be the hardest contract in the world to move on from, especially if he goes back to his 60+ point numbers (which could happen if he's playing with Ovechkin).Comment

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason
How is that all the Bruins got? Definitely has to be more to this because Leafs definitely were a team in on him, suddenly signed Woll today and then Ullmark gets dealt.
Apparently Leafs were on his NTC list, yet Ottawa isn't...Did he put any good team who wanted him on his NTC or something.Last edited by Majingir; 06-24-2024, 08:29 PM.Comment

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason
Ryan Suter makes history as the only player in NHL history to be bought out twice due salary reasons (Tony Deangelo was also bought out twice, but that was more because he's an idiot with issues).
Suter will be making 5.3m next year with a combined 8m+ cap hit across 2 teams (most of it is from the Wild).
Speaking of the Wild, next year is last season with the major Suter/Parise cap hits, after that it drops.
The 25-26 Wild could surprise people. Fleury I could see moved by the deadline, but with the big cap hits off the books next year it means they could add a starting goalie and 1 or 2 top 2 line players.Last edited by Majingir; 06-27-2024, 12:34 PM.Comment

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason
Rumors saying that Stamkos is testing FA.
Lightning offered 8 years 3m (24m total) and he wants 35-40m for that term.
Obviously I'd love having him on the Leafs (if they get Stamkos they better trade Marner for sure and get a dman back), but if not there I could see Panthers as a dark horse candidate to get him.
He doesn't seem like the guy who would want that spotlight. At least Tavares was in NY, even if it was the Islanders. Stamkos far away from here in TB, he probably would want to stay close by to Tampa.
The sphere looks so cool. Best setup for an NHL draft for sure. How can the NHL want to get rid of all this? They have the best draft in sports.
*Fans boo*
Ryan Smith: You can't boo us, we haven't done anything yet.
*Fans boo louder*
Then they take Iginla!
Continuing the Coyotes tradition of picking the enticing names. Now two 2nd Gen players with Doan and Iginla.Last edited by Majingir; 06-28-2024, 07:55 PM.Comment

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason
Utah is finally spending.
Sergachev going there.
This will definitely be an interesting offseason for that franchise with the cap space they have and Utah legend Shea Weber on LTIR
All round 1 they kept showing photos of the draftees when they were kids watching their hero's growing up...aka CURRENT nhl players.
Now we have a guy drafted who has already been on the draft stage when he was younger. Blackhawks drafted Jack Pridham, son of Leafs assistant GM Brandon Pridham who was on stage with his dad during Marners draft.
This is awkward....Logan Thompson doing autograph signings in the sphere for fans in Vegas during the draft. He gets traded in the middle of doing the autograph signings and he stayed until the end.
Washington drafted Miroslav Satan.Last edited by Majingir; 06-29-2024, 03:24 PM.Comment
