Re: Can you punch and move at same time in Fight Night?

i still am shocked at peeps views on "slugfests"....ANY game..no matter that engine...can be a slug fest if both players play that way...that is fact...you really have to think about what you're complaining about here....

This game definately gives you the tools to keep it from being a slugfest...and it definately makes you pay for "mindless" swinging....nobody should be complaining about slugfest in fight night 2004....the only way this game is a slugfest..is if BOTH of you are making it a slugfest...YOU are controlling the fighters...not the computer.

If for example...i wasn't a slugfest type of fighter....and my opponent was....i can take advantage and control my defense and offense the way I WANT to...and prevent it from being a slugfest..and use my opponents mindless swinging to my advantage with the loss of his stamina....

If both fighters are doing the slugfest thing...they will get tired TOGETHER...and will just be "slugging" at a slow tired pace....but they are still BOTH reaping the consequences...so it still comes out to be a slug fest...but they ARE getting tired...but its the human players that are still trying to "slug it out"...the game itself though gives you what's needed to fight strategically and use stamina to your advantage....cmon now people...think about what you're saying, lol..quit cryin about a slugfest...its not the game...ITS YOU

In real life...you can fight how you want...if you want to fight a slugfest..you can fight a slug fest...but u can also fight strategically whenever YOU WANT...theres are negatives to what you're doing but you CAN still fight how you want.

Some of you guys have a logic....where if ea somehow made it where the game could never give you "slugfest" as an option of fighting....then everything would be peaches and cream...then they would MAKE YOU fight how they want you to fight....JUST in order to keep it from being a slugfest at all times...this is NOT what you want...please stop complaining because everytime i see posts about slugfest..i keep getting a nightmare in my head that ea reads all this and takes it the wrong way...and starts working on next years game with some crazy engine that takes some of the human control away from you just to keep slugging out of the picture completely....again...YOU DO NOT WANT THAT....you want them to give you consequences for what you're doing...AND THEY'VE ALREADY DONE THAT....its just that too many peeps are basing their assumptions on a 2 round demo...where you can't possibly understand the way the stamina works and what happens to your fighter in a full competetive...12 round fight..

This will be the best boxing game ever by far...be patient...wait for the game to come out...i guarantee peeps will really really love this game after a few months of playing

If you are throwing punches without a lot of defensive moves a decent gamer will be able to take you apart, stamina factors aside. Button mashing and slugfest are two different animals.

Re: Can you punch and move at same time in Fight Night?

The reason I am saying that is because the very definition of a slugfest is both opponents move to one spot and stand there and slug it out. Not being able to punch while you move contributes hugely to this entire situation. Sure you can do dodge, block, etc but you're still standing there going toe to toe with someone so it's still a slugfest pretty much. The ability to punch while moving would alleviate this quite a bit.

I'm amazed no one seems to really view this is being a big concern. Imagine the uproar in a football game if you could not throw at all while running and had to completely stop to throw. Sure I don't have any issue with them making you less accurate whiel doing so but by not even giving us the option in the first place it's doing all of us boxing fans a HUGE disservice. That's how its done in football now and same could be done for boxing, much like real life making you punch a bit less accurately if you're moving. But at least have it in there.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still buy the game. But by them making the game this way it effectively forces a certain style of fighting. Again, with the football reference it's akin to making Madden only having NFC teams or NCAA having only the option-style teams. It's just presenting one aspect of the sport and leaving a huge aspect, or style, out of the game completely. I thought it was funny EA put so much emphasis in Knockout Kings that Muhammed Ali was in the game and played that aspect up considering Ali was the original hit while moving style of boxer and that element was, and still appears to be completely missing from the game.

Not sure of how the controls work and I imagine this is why they don't have this option in there. But there surely is a workaround that they can provide to get this very important aspect of boxing into the game.

In my eyes, a slugfest is where two oponents stand toe-to-toe with no regard to dodging, blocking, or countering. They just throw punches until one of the lifebars goes empty.

In my eyes slugfest is opponents just standing toe to toe and going at it, whether it be blocking or dodging involved. The point is the flaw i'm complaining about doesn't necessarily mean the games a slugfest, but the inability to hit while moving makes it more apt that you will become involved in slugfests because if you're getting hit and unable to block effectively then you'll tend to think you have to punch your way out, go on the offensive, until you can retreat.

If you could hit while moving it'd make for slugfest'ing to become a very conscious decision since you would be making a real conscious effort to simply stand and punch as opposed to punching while moving in and out toward and away from your opponent. The style of fighting this game will support will be fine for more lethargic, in close type fighters but completely wrong for more fast, agile, lightweight type fighters who use their hands in concert with their feet and not in place of them by being limited to doing one or the other but not both at once.

i have the demo and in my opinion though you can't move and punch at the same time, there is the illusion that you are doing this, i have been very successful at circling around toney while throwing hooks to the head and body both. yes roy pauses his circling for a very brief moment to throw the punch, but the effect is still what i am looking for, i move around toney while tagging him and avoiding being hit in return at the same time....hope this gives more insight to the way the boxers punch and "move"
