Anybody attend PGA tour events?

I just went and was a stand bearer at the Wichita Open. Its a Nationwide tour event. The guys I were with got put on the clock and they played horribly slow.

did you enjoy it? I've never seen a golf event live, I think I'd just keep watching on TV...seems like it's more fun when you get to see everything on TV than in person, i dunno. I bet a major would be cool, but not sure golf live is for me.

I was a stand bearer in my younger days for the CVS Charity Classic back when it was a tour event in Sutton MA. I had some decent golfers over the 3 years I did it including Ryder Cup member Steve Pate. I got a ton of autographs from Calc, Daly, Faxon, Leonard, and some more names. I actually was the stadnard bearer for the last champion ever at that course as the PGA moved onto bigger places. My brother had Steve Flesch for 3 straight days and he was a group behind me one day and goes have u been with me all week? I go no that was my brother. What a great guy Steve Flesch was.

i think next year i might just watch instead of carrying that thing around the whole day. its pretty cool except there is not as big of crowd at nationwide tour events compared to pga tour events. i want to go to a major sometime.

Went to the Buick Open last year for the first time and went yesterday too. I plan on going every year, its pretty cool to be close to the pros and see their entire routine.
Another neat thing was just watching them get warmed up on the driving range.

IF you get a chance work a PGA Tour event as a volunteer. It is a good time and a ton of fun.

THe last PGA Tour even I went to was the 96 PGA Championship at Valhalla in Louisville when Mark Brooks won.

Went to the John Deere Classic in PA. John Daly and Vijay are always there. Tiger was supposed to be there last year, but skipped out at the last minute. Should be there this year so I'm going to go check it out in September.

The US Open is coming to Oakmont Country Club in PA. Very close to me so I'm going to try to go to that. I think that's in 2007???

Cool. The US Senior Open is going to be at Prarie Dunes in Hutchinson Kansas next year. They held the US Womens Open a couple years ago. hopefully someday they will host the Mens open.

I hit up the FBR (Phoenix) Open every year......always a ton of fun! Largest and rowdiest galleries on tour, a beautiful course designed with the spectator in mind and perfect weather in late January early Feb.

I think it's worth the price of adminssion for hole 16 alone. The place literally rumbles when the big Sat/Sunday crowds pack in there.

I am with randogu...I go to the FBR Open every year. I love the tournament. It's fun when a former ASU Sun Devil (i.e. Phil Mickelson) or UofA Wildcat comes to the 16th tee box and you get all the ASU/UofA chants going.

I have attended the Deutsche Bank Championship the past two years it has been here in Mass. at the TPC of Boston. I'll be going again this year, too. It's always a lot of fun, especially the practice rounds.

I've also been to the U.S. Senior Open, CVS Charity Classic when they still had it here as well as the Fleet Boston Classic (or whatever bank name they go by now).

Easily, though, the Deutsche Bank is the best, mainly because of Tiger.

First gig I had out of college had tickets to the Byron Nelson in 2001. They gave us the day off. It was awesome. Yes, my co-workers and I follow the Tiger gallery for about 5 holes before we got tired. I really had a new found respect for golfers after walking the TPC course. Those steep hills are crazy! Then having to deal with the Texas heat, we couldn't stay out there all day. Needless to say, I had a blast. It was like a big party around the reception area, or whatever it's called.

i went to a senior event out at SAS and say tom kite, craig stadler, raymond floyd etc... stadler won btw.

I watched the 2nd round of the Cox Classic in Omaha (Nationwide). I saw a couple old pros, Chip Beck, David Peoples, Van der Walt, Guy Boros, Tommy Tolles.. Also saw Jason Gore fire his 59 that day.. pretty amazing.
