Just played my first full 18 hole course...

    I shot an 89.

44 on the front 9 and a 45 on the back 9. It was a par 69 course. I didn't have any birdies, but I had par on quite a few of them. Of course I had a few too many bogeys and 1 double bogey. I gotta learn how to putt.

For someone who just started golfing, you're shooting incredibly well. I'm not sure how long or tough the courses are that your playing though.

I've been golfing on and off for 5 or so years and I'm very happy if I shoot an 89. The course I usually play is a par 72. Lots of water and bunkers, a 210 yd par 3 and a 600 yd par 5 with water all in front of the green! LOL. That one's kind of tough! This course I usually shoot in the low 90's. My problem is I'll drive the ball about 275 yds and then my second shot is another 125-175 from the hole and I can never get close enough to birdie! If I miss the green, it's almost an automatic bogey since my short game isn't very strong.

Anyhow, that's an impressive score. Golf is such a fun game, but very hard to be consistent at. Congrats!!

Yeah, I think this course must be labeled as "Easy". The longest Par 5 was 402. None of the Par 3's were longer than 140. There are some creeks, bunkers and a whole bunch of tall grass and weeds. The fairways are fairly big as well. I can't wait to play on a really tough course, just to see how high my scores are. I noticed on the "High Score of the Year" poster, someone shot a 58 there this year. If my putting game was solid, I know I could have easily shot in the low 80's.

I love chipping, man...what a rush when you chip one about 4 or 5 feet from the hole.

How many mulligans did you take because I've never known or heard anybody come close to shooting in the 80's the first time they've ever played golf especially when you admit you can't putt which always inflates your score. Did you take lessons beforehand?

Actually, no mulligans, but I did have to drop. I hit it into the tall weeds and couldn't find the ball. I made sure to make a note of it on my scorecard. No reason for me to cheat, I'm not getting paid for this, lol. It's not my first time playing golf, it's just my first time playing a full 18. No lessons, just learning on the fly at the driving range and the coarse.

You better give up OS and start focusing on Golf. I'll be your agent/ caddie and only take a 7.5% cut.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

402 yard par 5? WTF? 402 is now considered on the short side even for a par 4.

That said, shooting 89 is definitely an accomplishment at the stage you are at, regardless of how short/easy the course is. It sounds like you're having alot of fun with it. Keep playing!

LOL, yeah...That's why a lot of people claim this is an "Easy" course. I had fun playing it, for sure.

I should be able to play golf again in a couple of weeks. My hand has almost completely healed from being broken over a month ago. Congrats on your round BTW!

Congrats. Over the weekend I shot a personal best 88 an a par 70. Bogey golf is what I usually play.

89 is a good score even if this course was labeled as "easy". I usually shoot in the mid to high 90's and I've been playing for years. Yea, I should be better but I have the finesse of a bull in a china shop.

Well all that matters is that you had fun. Your next test is to play a real course and see what your score comes out to be, a 402 par 5 as the longest is quite shocking, hell whats the shortest par 5 there? I'd have a wedge left on a 402 yard par 5 with a straight drive.
