ALMOST got a hole in one today! Made a chip in!

Man, I still can't believe it. Went to the 9 hole Par 3 course today and pulled out the 8 iron. Hit a nice straight shot 113 yards. The hole was up a hill, so I couldn't see what happened on the other side. I saw it hit the green, but after that I had no idea what it did. Honestly, I thought it rolled right off the green on the other side.

Anyways, I walk up to the hole and what do I see? My ball is INCHES from the hole. Man, I was sooooooooooooo fired up, it was awesome. I can't imagine what I'd do if I ever hit a hole in one, but man, what a rush!

I also made my first chip in today. About 15 yards from the hole, I pulled out the pitching wedge. I was about 5 feet from the green, so I had to make sure I lofted it just enough to get it over the rough and on the green.

Well, I take my slap at it and it just clears the rough and rolls...and rolls...I'm like NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! It kept rolling and right when it was at the hole it sort of hesitated to go in and BAM, it rolled right in. Man, I was lovin' life!

I did manage 2 birdies and 3 bogeys today, the rest Par. I'm happy.

Dang Steve, I thought you just started playing. Everytime you post you have some good news from the golf course. It sounds like you're picking up the game quickly. I almost had a hole-in-one last time I played. It was a blind shot and when I got to the green it was about 2 cm from the hole. I would've gone nuts if it had've gone in. I usually suck but that's cool. A bad day on the golf course is better than a good day at work.

I'm with ya, I'm finding this a little hard to believe for someone who just took up golf. Golf is one sport where no one is truthful and 90% of recreational players do not count all thier strokes.(myself included) I always hear from friends about how they are breaking 80 and when I go out and play with them they're lucky to break 100 and moan about this is the worst they've ever played and it always seems to be with me.

Golf is one sport where no one is truthful and 90% of recreational players do not count all thier strokes.(myself included) I always hear from friends about how they are breaking 80 and when I go out and play with them they're lucky to break 100 and moan about this is the worst they've ever played and it always seems to be with me.

haha yeah man i know what youre talkin about, I also hate it when people say they drive the ball 280 yards, well maybe 1 out of 10 goes 280 but that doesn't mean you drive 280 lol.

If you lie about yourself in golf, youre only hurting yourself.

Anyways back on topic, thats cool steve.

I've never had a hole in one in my years of playing, im only 21 so I have plenty of time to get one. I've had a few close calls myself, hitting a 4 iron that rolled right up to the lip of the hole, and also hitting a 8 iron and seeing that it landed in the circle of where the hole was the previous time, not where the current hole was.

haha yeah man i know what youre talkin about, I also hate it when people say they drive the ball 280 yards, well maybe 1 out of 10 goes 280 but that doesn't mean you drive 280 lol.

The best one I heard was last week when my neighbour said he drove a tee shot 400 yards straight down the middle on a slightly upward slope.

I have one friend who I played with last week and he shot 103 on an average course and that's being generous. I talked to him yesterday and he played Friday on a difficult course and said he shot 80 and was upset he didn't break 80. He says the reason he shoots 20 shots worse playing with me is because I give him bad luck. Sounds logical to me, but I think math has never been his strong suit. The only good part about this is when I beat him I always brag to people that I beat somebody who's nearly a scratch golfer or at least in his own mind.

I've never broken 100 and I've gotten 3 birdies in my whole life. I did make an eagle back in July though.
