BIGDAWG wanted to know, but links is only 6.99 used at EB. Everyone needs to go out and pick out one of the xbox's best games!

I played some challenges this morning and the game came back to me immediately. Advanced is the ONLY way to play. I suggest that even the newbies start off on this setting.

I can't stand DUKE!!!! from their students to their teams they make me sick. UNC for life baby. Enjoy another miserable football season! I actually have tickets to the Richmond/Duke game, I might go just to root for the 1AA squad!

I will be pulling for the Heels when they play State though... they're ownership of Chuckie Cheese & Co. is absolutely hilarious - it kills State fans worse than anything else that could happen to them.

haha. Man I'm pretty fired up for the App St./NC State game. The talk radio shows have been absolutely hilarious with all of the talk about it. I don't have a problem with either tam, but I'd love to see App shut up the State fans.

Do you happen to listen to Prime Time with the Packman (Mark Packer) out of WFNZ, Charlotte up there? They've been having a ball talking about this game this week. It's generated more talk than any game this weekend, including Miami and Florida St.!? I don't think Appy has a chance, but it would tickle me to death to see them pull off the upset.

Oh yeah man, I listen to the Packman pretty much everyday. It kinda sucks that his show replaced Tim Brando in my area though because I enjoyed his show a bit more. I wish I could get them both.

Yeah.. I know, I listened to the game. 12 first downs and 200 yards of total offense against a 1-AA school. It was one of the most miserable moments I can recall. It's only going to get worse as the season goes on. We might get to see the starters for Miami, Florida St., Virginia Tech, & Clemson play for a quarter and a half against my boys this year... that's all they'll need to put the game away. I'm prepared for the ultimate in humiliation after last Saturday

What courses are on Links already?

7 real courses: St. Andrews, Loch Lomond, Superstition Mountain, Grey Wolf, Aviara, Mauna Lani, New South Wales, and Oakmont. 1 fictional course, Ocean Mill.

What courses can you DL?

Kapalua and The Gallery's North Course are the two premium courses. I'll say this, both Kapalua and St. Andrews in Links 2004, are the finest renderings of those two courses I've seen in any golf game. A free download of Ocean's Mill Director's Cut is also available. It's on the Ocean Mill theme, but it's close to being "over-the-top". Worth it for a challenge, but I don't make a habit of playing this one. It will beat you to death!!

Is a new Links coming out this year for 360?

Regrettably, no... the project got scrapped with Take 2's demise, whom the core of the IndieBuilt team behind Links 2004 was working for, the way I understand it

That's what makes this game so endearing to me. It's really hard to develope a touch for gauging the distance, but most of the time I feel like I've earned the putts I make.

For the time being, my days of playing Links 2004 in b/c mode are over. My XBox 360 is now officially Dead. I turn it on now and get 4 red lights blinking. I tried cleaning out the power brick and ensuring the vents on the 360 case were free of dust... made no difference. The fans, btw, were operating on the power brick.

I had a hunch to buy the Nyko intercooler about three months ago... I wish I had done that now. I might not be in this fix, who knows? Oh well, I got to see about 2 hours of Test Drive Unlimited in its full glory, and the final crash then occured on the 8th hole at Ocean Mill, while playing Links 2004. I won't be able to afford the repair cost until the 29th, so I'm back to gaming on my XBox and PS2 now, so it's not a total loss.

What's odd though is that my second used copy of Links 2004 gives me a DDE when I try to play it on my trusty old XBox... this is the same copy that was working flawlessly on my XBox 360!? So I am back to not playing Links 2004 again

That $40 Best Buy extended warranty doesn't look like all that bad a deal right now.... (sigh). This is the first time in my history as a consumer that I've been burned for not buying an extended warranty!

I hate to say it but if you did not buy the extended warranty after seeing the hundreds of thousands of users whose 360's were failing, I don't know what to tell you. I never purchase any piece of complex electronics hardware without an extended warranty these days....good luck getting back in the game.

I know.... I know, in retrospect it was a foolish gamble on my part. I've been lucky in that I've never had an appliance or major piece of electronics fail within an extended warranty period. That played heavily on my decision at the time. Well, that plus an unexpected tax assessment that cut my margin pretty thin.

Lesson learned here... the electronics are getting more complicated and therefore, more prone to failure. I'll be back on the 360 scene sooner or later. I hope to work it out so I'll have it back in time for the release of TW 07 on the 360. I know it's going to look fantastic, but I've got to have a rental this year to tell me if the interface is going to do the job for me this year.

Meanwhile, I've hooked my XBox back up to my 42" plasma, so it's pretty cool to get to see it in a new light. NFL 2K5 looks awesome in widescreen at 480p! TOCA 3 shows its jagginess on this large a screen, however.

Anyone had any luck with any of the drive cleaners for the old XBox? I can't believe that my now kaput 360 read the Links 2004 disk, but my XBox won't get to the first tee.

I had a hard time finding a copy late last year, after my original copy finally wore out. I picked it up at EB Games for $9.99, but I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't get it for $4.99 now, if you can find it.
