The yellow or blue streak that follows your club when you swing to indicate either a draw or fade orientation. If the swing aid is on, you can see if your backswing is slightly misaligned and try again. With it off, there's no streak.Originally Posted by Briman123

Re: At What point should I join the Tour?
Actually, I find this game pretty easy on tour difficulty except for putting. I really, really stink at putting. I have no clue how to hit the 22 foot putt that is 6 inches foot up hill. Because of the uphill I have to go to the 40 foot length and hit the partial hit, I really struggle with this and I end up with an 8 foot downhill bender coming back that I only make 25% of the time. When you make it to the 3rd set of the Tiger challenges you can no longer 3 putt and win. I think I am stuck now until I become a much better putter.Comment

As far as putting goes, for every inch, you add of subtract 1 foot(Uphill add, downhill subtract), and remember, if it says 1.0 ft, thats 12 inches.
I won my 1st tourney, and my cap was @ 24%. I do think the computer plays down to you alittle bit though, IMHOVi Veri Universum Vivus Vici

Re: At What point should I join the Tour?
Yeah, I saw that message as well on the load screen but an inch makes for an extra foot if the putt is how long? It doesn't make any sense that an inch adds a foot in a 5 foot putt versus a 40 foot putt does it?
Example: a) 5 foot putt with 6 inch increase versus
b) 40 foot putt with 6 inch increase.
Also, the spin that you can add to your put with the other analog stick... anyone know how much that counts as?Comment

Re: At What point should I join the Tour?
I don't think the "swing aid" is what he was talking about earlier. The "swing aid" on the 360 are the little messages that come up and warn you of a downhill or uphill shot, etc before you swing. I turned that off after the 1st day of playing.
As for putting it's probably the most difficult part of the game IMO. Reading greens can be very difficult from long distances. I started out by using the ideal putt cam (press A before you put) to learn the lines of the green. I don't really use that anymore, but my new philosophy is it's better to be short on a putt then long. Especially on downhill shots you want to select a shorter putter 10ft vs. 20ft on a downhill putt of say 17 yards. On uphill puts you will never make a 10ft putt with a 10ft putter, always go up to the 20ft and hit with a little less power.
I'm not trying to come off as any expert. I'm in the third round of the Tiger Challenge and was getting handled at Bandon Dunes (hate that course) by that geek. My golfer is still only around 36% though, and I'm trying to use the least amount of training aids as possible.Comment

As far as the right analog putting spin, it seems to add or subtract 5 or 6 inches either way.Originally Posted by Briman123

When I play courses like Firestone I can pretty much dominate my opponent.Comment

He's really good, too good if you ask me. You have to be able to shoot par or better on every hole to beat him. I only tried once last night so tonight I will try the next challenge and see how I fare. Those crazy courses always throw me off. The wind is blowing extremely hard and the bumps just drive me nuts.

As for Firestone, I hate that course. And the reason why is #18 - the absolutely most insane crazy par four ever. I played the Nissan Open and never parred it. I went into the 72nd hole in like 6th place at -4 (four shots back) and came out even. Four putted the sonofagun because the pin placement was in such a spot that it was like on the slope of a half pipe. IMPOSSIBLE. Hate that hole.Originally Posted by Briman123

I decided to skip that guy last night and beat Montgomerie on my first try. I'll probably try Campbell and then go back.Comment

Re: At What point should I join the Tour?
I am now 0-2 against the geek. I really struggle to putt at this place. I am forced to get up and down way more times then I can manage because of playing from the back tees and my lack of power. I did manage to extend the match to the 17th hole on my second try but I felt I had a negative attitude the whole match. That dude just refuses to bogey no matter how bad his 3rd shot looks to be.
If I was to complain about one thing in this game, it is how irrelevant your lie is for any short shot. It doesn't matter if you put the ball into the high grass/weeds that are head level on a 45 degree slope. In real life that would be an unplayable lie. In this game it is very possible to hole that shot out or at least get up and down easily. There should be a MUCH larger punishment for putting the ball in the really bad spots like in real life.Comment

I think the CPU is way too good getting out of trouble. Bunkers, heavy rough, doesn't matter...they all seem to be able to pitch/chip the ball to within a yard of the whole.Comment
