    Need Help Driving/Hitting (TW07)

I cannot drive for the life of me. I can't hit a straight shot or get any distance on the ball. I don't know what happened, the other night I was doing quite well, average drives of over 250 (260 is my "max" drive right now). I can't hit a straight shot ever, driving, fairway shots, bunker shots, anything. I know that you have to go straight back and straight forward to get a perfect shot, even when I do that it still hooks left. I aim way right in hopes of hitting the fairway and still end up way to the left side of the fairway. I need all the help I can get. Every event I enter I'm usually +15 by the end of the first round. It's pathetic.

Please any advice would be appreciated.

How fast are you swinging the club? I find that this game rewards a smooth, evenly tempoed swing. It's hard to feel it with the way the animation and stick movement work together, but you have to look at your golfer and decide whether or not their rhythm looks natural to you. Frantic stick jerking isn't going to do you any good in this game.

I usually take a one backswing before driving the ball, this way I can feel if it's straight. In the game it says there should be no hesitation between the top part of your backswing and the follow-through. I pull back all the way really until he really stops and then come forward as hard as I can. If you get a nice swing you get that animation of him striking the ball well.

I can get that animation quite a few times, but the ball will still go about 200 yards or shorter. Any other tips from anyone. I love the game and love trying to build up my guy, but the lack of driving distance and everything is really making me a little angry.

What level is your power/driving power at? I don't think I've ever consistently hit under 200 yards not even with my 3 wood. My character is around 36% now and I drive 250 - 270 yards consistently. Of course the slop from the tee box changes that at times. I would just make sure you are taking a full backswing.

Do you have problems with your irons as well? For instance, if you have a 2 iron and it's 180 yards to the pin..and your full power is 180 yards..can you reach the pin? I seem to always overshoot the pin with full power.

I'm trying the practice swing to see if I get it right or not and that has helped a few times. My irons are just as bad most of the time. I aim for the green or fairway and hit the rough. I do the practice swing with that too. I'm not using the power boost much anymore either and seem to be doing alright. I'm shooting 6 over so far through 10, which is still bad, but I have thrown in a few birdies and missed out on a few that ended up being bougey's. I have no idea what % my guy is at. No clue where to check.

Shot a 77 in the 2nd round of a tournament. Best round yet. 43 on the front 9 is what killed. Only had 2 bogey's on the back 9, 2 pars, rest were birdies. A lot better round of golf for sure. I guess that whole practice swing is helping quite a bit. Just gotta get a better putting game.

It may sound obvious, but just go to the practice tee and take a lot of swings. I was having trouble driving the ball, but after about 120 some odd drives on the tee, I have a much better "feel" for it.

You do need a nice smooth tempo, and you have to make sure that you start your downswing at the right time during the swing animation. My biggest problem is that I wasn't syncing my stick movements with the animations in the swing and I was starting my downswing way too early. Fixing that added about 30-40 yards to my drive, easily.

I'm doing a lot better now. I've started to do the practice swing type thing before I actually do the swing. I make sure I take it back perfectly straight. Now I'm driving the ball about 270-290 every drive and getting better and better as the day's go by. My whole game is getting much better now. I'm able to usually shoot fairly close to par. My player is getting better and better as well. More and more sponsorships too.
