    PLEASE HELP! Damaged video game...

Yea, so I made the mistake of putting my xbox360 horizontally while my Tiger Woods game was in the drive...

Apparently, it scratched it and I cannot play anymore.

All I want is a working disc again... so basically exchanging it for a fresh copy.

I'm beyond the 30 day return policy for Bestbuy.

What are my options, other than buying it again for $60?!

Call or email EA, they'll verify that you did buy the game. You'll be asked to pay $15 or $20 for a replacement. Or you can do the unethical thing and take it to Walmart and say you lost the receipt and you need it an exchange.

there i a game store where I live that has a little disk cleaner thingy, it cost me a dollar and they ran it through and it works fine now. or you could rent the game and swap discs.

Those commercial grade disk cleaner/grinder things work great.

I wouldn't recommend the cheapo ones you can find at Best Buy though.

We have a store called GameCrazy that's affialiated with Hollywood Video. They have a machine that buffs out the scratches for $1.99. I had the ring of scratches on NCAAA. I still don't know how they got there, but the machine took care of it.

Just go and rent it and then swap out the rental. I've done this at cockbuster before. Hell I've actually swapped out a previous years game for a newer version.

              Update!!

So I finally came home from my Thanksgiving getaway...

I went to Wal-mart first, and got denied... no one speaks english there, and they were saying there wasn't any return policy if the game was opened... I frankly feel like they were bull****ting me, but without a receipt, I had no ground to stand on.

I went to the Bestbuy across the street (I had my receipt from the other Bestbuy near my work where I bought the game) and told them the disc got scratched etc... I was beyond the 30 day limit by like 9 days, and the guy initially wasn't going to let me do it, but said to try going through EA.

Then another guy working the service desk asked what the deal was, and said to go ahead and let me exchange... after all, I wanted the same game!

So I was able to get a fresh copy!! They took the wrapping off and cracked the seal... perhaps so I wouldn't re-sell it? Must be a standard procedure.

Anyways, I'm back on the course!

Lesson learned? LEAVE THE FREAKIN 360 FLAT/HORIZONTAL!

If you buy any future games at EB, they have a warranty policy covering any damage for a year for something like 3 dollars which is worth it as no one plays a game for more than a year anyways.
