Tiger Woods 2003 vs. 2004 PC versions

Hello, I wanted to get some input from anyone who has or played both of these games. I currently own the PC 2004 version. I have heard some say that 2003 is a better sim game and was wondering if it is worth moving from 2004 to 2003?

What are the differences between the two? Thanks for the input!

Actually, I thought 2004 was the best version of TW for PC ever. I can tell you what, it's 100 times better than the crap that is 2006. I can't finish a round at 3 or 4 different courses without the thing crashing on me. Hard crashes too where my system has to be shut down. I'm not really sure of all of the differences between 2003 and 2004 though. Sorry. I just know that 2004 never had a problem and had a huge amount of downloadable courses that all work well.

Thanks. From what I've heard anything after the 2004 version isn't very good for the PC. Now that EA is moving development to Tiburion, that does not bode well for the PC either. Headgate Studios (now EA Salt Lake) was the devloper who really made the PGA Championship games innovative with the truswing and carried it over to the TW PC games.

IMO, 2003 was the best in the series then 2004. The 2003 version just concentrated on being a serious golf game which still had competition from Links 2003 (PC). Career and Season mode were introduced.

After that in 2004 we were introduced to stupid gimmicks and they've carried into 2008.

Was TW 2003 perfect?...no, but it tried to be a solid, serious golf experience like Links 2003.

I agree, 2003 was one of the best golf games at the time - Links 2003 was a slight step better though.

If you guys are looking for another solid PC Golf game (also on PS2.,xbox) check out ProStroke Golf 2007. Cost me about $30 at BestBuy, really good game. Not many courses - but has a career mode and a pretty cool game engine. The creators frequent their forums alot so any questions are usually answered quickly and efficiently.

I slightly preferred the 2004 version to 2003. I liked the career editor with the 2004 version, and that's what sold me on it primarily. When I bought my XBox 360, I lost most interest in PC gaming. I still admit that the PC has come great sports games, but I just find the PC gaming experience to be too confining. I like laying back in my recliner, and playing games with a wireless gamepad on a 56" HDTV... it has ruined me, as a PC gamer.

2003 is when David DeMartini took over as Executive Producer of the TW series and starting with the 2003 version is when all the arcade-like garbage began to infect the PC version in an attempt to draw more of the casual user. 2004 is one of the best versions of TW PC as Ken Sayler was the Sr. Producer and it had the most complete feature offerings and gameplay of any TW PC since.

The putting in 04 is kind of screwy; other than that, it's the better game by far. The big problem with 03 is your golfer has a sort of auto-hit/cheat programming issue - regardless of how slow or soft you pull back on the swing, the golfer still hits it close to the the club's yardage. That was toned down and improved upon in 04.

Thanks for the replys and info. I probably will stick with the 04 version. Anybody have any user designed courses they reccomend? I downloaded Augusta and Badlands. For some reason I couldn't get Badlands to work.

So are you guys saying you prefer PC '04 to '07? This may be worth the $5 to check out.

I think '04 is definitely better than anything that has come out since.
