What golf game should I get for Xbox?
I picked up Links 2004 at the B2G1F used sale at GS, and I'm lovin' it. Of course, the game is somewhat known to be a little on the short side, so I'm going to need something to upgrade to down the line. Is Tiger Woods 07 the default choice, or is perhaps one of the older version better? I'm not too concerned about simness (word invention FTW), but I don't want to feel like I'm playing Wii Sports, either. Replayability and depth are also important to me.

Re: What golf game should I get for Xbox?
For last-gen Xbox, Links is the better game by far. For the 360, obviously TW is the only game available, but it's a huge improvement over the last-gen series.
My biggest complaint with TW has always been how easy it is, and with the last-gen version, it's simply too easy to shoot in the low 60's every time. And IMO, no mode/feature advantages the game might have over Links makes it worthy of a purchase.
The 360 version on the other hand can be tough. After a year of playing TW 06 on the 360, my average score is in the high 70's. The putting in the game expecially is great - as good as any golf game I've played, console or PC (for me, as far back as the PGA Tour series circa 1992-93).
Something neither game has that I love in Links: the power shot (when the club lights up red) and the sense that you're really winding up and nailing the ball. I'd like to see that same 'feel' for shooting, incorporated into the TW series. -

Ehhhh...being too easy doesn't like too much of a problem, especially if there are sliders I can adjust and there is a ton of stuff to do and unlock. Links looks to be a pretty short game, probably cause they really just wanted to push the online play.
I should also note I really don't plan on getting a TW game until 07 drops to below $10 or so at Gamestop.Comment

No sliders to adjust; just knock the ball straight as an arrow everytime and sink 30 foot putts with ease. If that sounds like the game for you, enjoy.Comment

Re: What golf game should I get for Xbox?
Links 2004 is the clear choice on the XBox. I rented TW 2007 for the XBox and I liked it better than the 2005 and 2006 versions. To my recollection, there are sliders in the Tour mode. Seems like there were like 8 to 10 player attributes that could be adusted on a scale of 0 - 100 (I'm thinking anyway). If you can find it for less than $15, I'd say it was worth it.
I was going to rent TW 2007 for the XBox at Blockbuster this week, just to check it out in backward compatibility mode on the XBox 360 (oddly enough it made the last b/c update?). The reason I wanted to do that was to see the game in 720p, and see what I could do with some in depth tweaking on those sliders. Both copies were out. I'm still going to try to rent it as soon as its back in. Who knows, I may buy a copy myself. I've been quite surprised at how some of these games improve with the 720p facelift on the 360.
I play TW 2007 (360 version) quite a bit, but it could be so much better with a little more thought behind the design.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Oops, my bad. Never played Tour mode. And yeah, the reviews for 07 on the Xbox were better than reviews for previous versions.Comment
