what was the patch for in TW 08

hi everyone....just downloaded a patch for tw08.......what was it for? guess i dont really see a difference in gameplay, or the sensitive swing issue....anybody?

it was to fix the glitch in the Tiger Challenge Mode, where the game would freeze up during different moments

ahh man really? they didnt too anything about the sensitive swing issue......that's a shame.....cuz it's a cool game.....but damm it's wicked tough with the swing...

Th swing sensitivity on TOUR Pro was tweaked to be less sensitive, but the other swing difficulty modes were not touched....

So your saying on tour mode they help out the swing a liitle, but on tiger challenge and the modes, your on your own right?

Why would they do this, I thought the swing was perfect. I someone doesn't like it they could always lower the difficulty. They finally nailed Tour Pro mode and they are already watering it down, this doesn't hold well for next year IMO. I actually haven't played the game in a while because of my newborn so, I'll just decline the update next time I play. I like the swing sensitivity the way it is!

Because far more feedback criticized the swing as being too sensitive (I agree personally) versus those paraising it as well as not enough feedback to the user to tell what they were doing wrong to cause mis-hits.

As far as next year, there will be some improvements to the swing planned for all levels that should cater to the desires of the casual fan all the way to the hardcore simulation user. I can't go into details obviously, but what I hear sounds very good if they can manage to pull it off from concept to reality....

Increased difficulty on tour mode is good but it was a little bit twitchy this year...thats not the difficulty tour mode fans wanted.

I think many Tour mode gamers have converted to Joytech, and other non-Microsoft gamepads, and that has negated the inherent difficulty that the design has with the Microsoft wireless. I bought a Joytech NeoSE controller and found that it made the game sterile. I was back on my Microsoft wireless a week later and haven't looked back.

I'm not very competitive with the Microsoft wireless online, but the fire & forget approach that I found with the Joytech spoiled the game for me. I actually get more out of the game with a 35% winning percentage with the MS Wireless versus the 60% I had with the Joytech. The game literally got boring with the Joytech for me... others mileage may vary.

Well that's good to hear. This years game was the first TW game in many years that actually took a steps forward in satisfying the hardcore crowd. If they continue this trend next year every maybe able to finally put Links 2004 to bed. I have really enjoyed this years TW game and thought they made major improvements over the previous years. Now, if only you could get reviewers to understand golf maybe they would know how to properly review the game.
