Re: Tiger Woods 09 Demo
It's out now... (5:00 EDT) on XBL. 1.009 GB. Three holes of the Gary Player Country Club in South Africa. Afterwards, you'll be given a critique of your play by Hank Haney, who will suggest drills for you to improve on your skills.... (wonder if he'll tell me when I should start applying my post shot spin?) I'm 72% into my download now, so I'll have to bide my time for another 10 minutes or so.

Re: Tiger Woods 09 Demo
Just played the three hole demo twice, and Hank's custom drills twice, followed by a club tuning session at the driving range. First, the demo is unfortunatly locked in Default mode and it is insanely easy to hit the ball straight. I had to try to not hit it straight in order to hit one off line. I shot two under par on both three hole rounds, without thinking about what I was doing.
There are no camera control options available in the demo. It's ball cam all the way for live shots, which I don't like. Of course if you're playing this game in Default mode, you have to have this camera to steer the ball with post shot spin. I don't like the chances for not having another option for Tour Pro mode though. I don't like the way the camera cuts away to impractical, useless views once you've struck a putt. I just missed a 32 foot putt that rolled by 4 feet. Instead of viewing the putt head-on from a reverse angle (where I could have gleaned some information about the break coming back), I was forced to watch it from a zoomed out, 2 foot high camera looking at it from a 45 degree angle!? This happened to a number of my putts.
What I can say positive about the game is that there seems to be more feel in the swing interface. The golfer's swing animation actually lags the stick movement in a manner that more closely resembles the laws of physics. The shot power is stronger for a tempo that flows more naturally than one that is the fastest twitch.
It's hard to make a call on the graphics. The lighting for this course had either an early morning or late afternoon tint. I thought everything looked a bit yellowish as a result. I have a sick feeling that each course is going to have its own time of day and each time you play it, the lighting will be the same.... I really hope I'm wrong about this.
And those of you who wanted to get rid of the audio stylings of Gary McCord and David Feherty, you'll be begging to have them back after 5 minutes! :lol
Anyway, as I suspected, the demo doesn't represent the game the way I'll be playing it. I wish Tiburon could have taken a page from their NASCAR 2009 brethren in how to make a configurable, meaningful demo!Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: Tiger Woods 09 Demo
I just played the demo on the 360. The last time I played a golf game was Links 2004 for the Xbox 1. I've never played a Tiger Woods game. I played the 1st 2 holes, have to get to work , the first a par 5 I made in 4 shots, the second a par 3 took all 3.
For a non golf person this seemed pretty easy. I may give it a rent when it comes out. I know very little about golf so not sure if I'll buy it.Comment
