Tiger Woods 10 (360/ps3): EA really needs to get the online tourneys fixed

Day One with the game, I go on the live tourney menu.
Go to tour pro mode difficulty.
    The one-day tourney leader has a -24
The weekly (4 round) tourney leader has a -90.

How (expletive deleted) hard is it to make everyone use the same club levels?

    Geez.

Day one ... and live tourneys are ruined for me.

And another thing, why give guys more than one chance? You play your round, that's it. No second chances. What sissy sport ever allowed more than one chance?

Again ... thanks for ruining any fun I might have playing live tourneys or rounds online.

(Why it takes me less than an hour to see this, but for it to get through, is mind blowing)

I thought the same thing but if you play tour pro the lowest I saw for 18 holes was -8. Right on with the PGA.

EA has stated that one-try tournaments are coming sometime this month. This is something they added after the game went to manufacturing.

The Tour Pro Tourney had a -8 as the lowest score but then the guy shooting the -24 thru 18 on the amateur came in there and shot a -21 and a -18. Handsward or something like that is his name. The nearest to him on Tour Pro was -8 though which is a good thing to see.

It is sad really, but these powergamers or whatever you want to call them are always going to make these things impossible for people with real world lives.

These people must sit and blast through all the challenges all day to unlock everything (or they buy everything?).

It doesn't matter what game or what platform... if there is a leaderboard online, someone out there will work 24/7/365 to dominate it. It happens in every game I've ever played. I don't really know what can be done about it.

The only idea I had is an "over 30" tournaments or something, but that's impossible to maintain.

I'm starting to think there is nothing that can be done about it. Maybe the single try tourneys will make things more realistic. Beyond the single tries I really don't know what else to do (this assumes we are all using the same powercaps and equipment during the tourney).

Would I get enjoyment out of the offline season mode? Absolutely. But playing online Tourneys at the highest difficulty setting is what I am really interested in, but if guys are shooting -21 for a round and -90 over 4 rounds then I'm just not interested.

Here's to hoping things will be much more realistic once the single try tourney's go live.

How's he doing it though? Don't tell me he is that good on Tour Pro difficulty after just one day. Maybe the actual difficulty isn't set that hard for the tournament right now or did he find some kind of cheat?

I have the Wii version and check out the Tour Pro Live tournaments leadboard last night and there where many people with -15 and better scores. The leader was at -24. I just don't see how people are scoring that low already if the tournaments are actually using the advanced swing mode on the Wii. I'm still having trouble hitting drives in the fairway consistently.

Question: When you go online do your Club Tuner settings go with you? If so, then maybe this is how they are getting around some of the difficulty by making it easy to hit every club straight (opposed to me because I made every club's sweet spot as small as possible).

I was disappointed to see the leaderboards on the Wii already full of unrealistic scores. Was thinking it may fair better then the 360/PS3 version because of the Motion+. Of course, those without Motion+ have it easier on the Wii which might explain the score. Maybe they should have Motion+ Tour Pro only tournaments on the Wii as well.

What EA should do is whenever you launch a Tour Pro Live Tournament, everyone's character's attributes should be set to the same thing (no matter what character one is using). Every other possible difficulty tweaks should be set to the hardest level possible for every player (even club tuner setting should be automatically adjusted to the hardest possible). Make is so brutal in Tour Pro that these shot in the 50s loves will just stay in the amateur ranks.

Is there a way to sort the leaderboard by friends (or EA Buddies)? I don't really care about the general public, I know that people are going to make it their job to top the leaderboard by any means necessary. I just want to compete with my friends.

I've got an idea for an OSGA style league that could work cross platforms but it could be difficult to pull together. Gotta run to work now but I'll be back on later with details...

                    Exactly.

I love to play the game, but I don't play it 12 hours a day (though I might this weekend ) and don't spend hours trying to be the greatest gamer.

I haven't gotten the game yet, (hopefully tonite) My question is are there any online tournaments that are set up for more than 1 person to play? Like alt shot or best ball?

Yeah seeing a person shoot a 46 on today's daily tournament is really depressing. I mean what's the point. Look I want the game to be enjoyable to all but to be able to boost a character up to shoot that kind of score is ridiculously unrealistic and gives the game an arcade feel.

How the heck do some of these guys do this? Whether it's the Amateur mode or Tour Pro (which is what I play), how do these scores go so low? 46 has to be amateur, but I'm seeing sickening low scores for Tour Pro as well. Even if you cap the attributes, I'm not sure that will make the scores "normal" - to make it normal shouldn't mean my guy is only a 4 and can drive it only 250; that's not "realistic" for a pro. I really believe the DRIVER has to be fiercly hard to hit and keep in play, makikng you think more and strategize - hit fwy woods or irons off the tees. Then, within that - there needs to be difficulty per club and per shot type; full, pitch or flop based on your attributes.

I really think they need to look at this not only from a club standpoint, but add to it - if I can hit my 9 iron great, that doesn't mean I should be able to hit my 4 iron as pure. It also doesn't mean that if I hit a flop shot it should be easy - it should be one of the most risk/reward shots in the game.

EA needs to analyze (a) club, whether it's off the tee or off the fairway (should be different difficulty) (b) type of shot; full, half, pitch, chip, etc (c) lie in fairway or rough or bunker, etc (d) pressure - 1st round vs. 4th round on the back nine are two entirely different things.

Get rid of all those ridiculous modifiers with clothes and hats, etc.

When it rains, put the crowd and golfers in rain gear for crying out loud.

You want a TV broadcast, give us 6 on course reporters, not just Van Pelt and Tilghman.

This game is good. It's fun, but it's not great. For $60 a pop, whether the economic condition is in recession or thriving it doesn't matter - they owe us a great game, not a good game. Tiger 10 is good, not great.

If "it's in the game" is your motto, then you need to believe in it and deliver. There is a lot that is not in this game that we all see every weekend when we watch golf.

It's ironic that a guy as much a perfectionist as Tiger Woods would be okay with a good effort and not a great one.

EA - it's time to wow your customer; average should never be okay.
