Wii..Some questions on the "spin" attribute...

Currently I can't find any particular use for increasing my spin stats using the advanced swing. I never am awarded XP points in the spin category when playing a round. According to the manual you cannot add spin using the advanced controls, so is this attribute completely pointless on advanced swing?

Also, how do you get those shots that stick on the green and roll backwards using advanced controls?

By increasing your spin attribute. That's exactly what it's for. It adds spinability to your clubs -- at least that's the way it worked in TW 06, the last console version I played.

You can also put on a hat or shirt that miraculously increases your spin attribute. Don't quite know how that one works though, seeing I've never come across something like that in all my years of golfing.

I believe by increasing loft on your iron before your shot it will add backspin.

      Decrease loft for topspin.

Your character needs to have sufficient sping attributes for this to work as well.

Keep in mind that by changing the loft you effect distance the club will travel.

That's true. But your spin attribute has to be up to get it to work properly. In fact, it works too good IMO after raising spin to a certain point. I think I maxed mine at 50%. Anything more than that and wedges onto the green all spin back and roll off.

Thanks for all the info guys. I gotta ask though, how do you get enough XP in your spin category to increase it if you are never awarded XP in that category? Or at least I've never been awarded any XP in spin. The game gives you XP based on what you do when you play, and since you can't really add spin you're kinda stuck it would seem. I know when you complete some of the Tournament Challenges that you get spin XP, but I never get it when just playing. Maybe I gotta just get enough money together and buy that magic shirt.

I know that in TW 06, if you played a round and some of your wedge shots onto the green happened to spin back during the course of the round, you'd get XP for spin. Haven't played Tour Mode yet so I don't know if that's the way it works in TW 10.

Probably in the Challenges... If not there then just change your swing down to standard and go play a couple rounds using manual spin till you get sufficient amount of spin experience then adjust swing back to advanced.

Just checked, and I can't even find a spin attribute in this year's game. Different setup altogether apparently.

I have the 360 version (sorry, I failed to read the entire thread title) and it looks like it's gone. I noticed as well my attributes go up automatically. In the previous version I played, I could pick and choose which ones I wanted to increase. Can't do that now apparently.
