TW 03 had playoff holes where CPU players would shoot the exact same shots and scores if you replayed playoff holes. So you knew for example that the CPU would hit the green on 17, that the ball would end up 12 feet from the pin, and that the CPU would miss its birdie putt by a foot... that sort of thing. Given EA doesn't want to include normal playoff rounds -- the sort of thing that takes place on, you know, the PGA Tour -- maybe they can be persuaded to at least go back to a funky format like that one.

You won because you won the statistical tiebreaker with the other 2 golfers. This is also in play for online tournaments. Too bad they did not allow you to see how. I also wish there were playoff holes, but it isn't a dealbreaker for me personally....

Yeah I believe one of the devs said that the main reason for no tiebreaker is an online match could drag on forever. So I'm not sure if this is going to be in the game in the near future.

So, if EA made a baseball game would they take extra innings out because an online match could drag on forever? What a joke, for everything they do right, there's 2 things they completely mess up. Playoffs are one of the most exciting things that can happen in a PGA tournament yet EA doesn't feel the need to include them. That just dosen't make any since at all. Statistical tiebreaker, that dosen't exist on the PGA Tour, lazy effort IMO. You know EA, It's in the Game.

No, it is not a dealbreaker for me either but, it is a very poor effort on EA's part.


Online matches lasting forever, Ha. What do they care, not like they have to sit up and wait for us to finish playing.

Last year, I played a 34 inning game of MLB 08: The Show online. I'm sure this isn't the problem.


But it really hurts to see that there are no playoff holes, especially since this is supposed to be tournament golf. I really hope EA patches these in before I get the game.

There were, but you played the playoff hole with no clue of what your opponent was doing as he was playing the hold "off camera". I remember tying in a Tournament at Doral last year, parring the playoff hole, and thinking well, I've either lost or it's going another hole. The next screen informed me that I'd won. I had no clue what my opponent had done in the playoff.

I agree this is lame. I'm surprised they couldn't do something about it that's better than this. My idea is this... since EA Sports doesn't have the likenesses, nor the licenses to use every player's likeness in the game, why not use the same shot telemetry tracer and running hole score method that's used for simultaneous play online, to depict the play of the non-licensed pros in a playoff!? It would be so much better than this anticlimactic tie breaker finish.

While we're on the subject, I'd like to have the *option* (being careful how I say this because I know how a lot of gamers hate watching AI players play) of using simultaneous player telemetry to depict the play of pros who are paired with you in offline PGA Season play. It would make me feel less like I was playing by myself.

If this were offered as an option, I would like to have set to where the order of play resorts to turn-based "who's away" play to keep it from looking too chaotic. Naturally, I'd want to be able to fast forward and/or skip the telemetry depiction of their shot. No matter what though, the running total of the player(s) in your group should be shown on the lower right corner of the screen in offline season events just like it is now for online multiplayer.
