Bobby Jones would be dissapointed
That ever since golf games came out on pc/console. No one had ever had the pleasure of experiencing the Augusta National course. I think I saw on Links PC someone who made a the course using the course builder tools but it nowhere near the details that are display in the TW/Links series when its done by the developer.

Other than that tho, I think you can keep on wishing for it. I don't see any indication the person responsible for Augusta (Hootie something-or-other?) will ever allow it to be created in a video game.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: Bobby Jones would be dissapointed
The people who developed PGA 2000 (and came up with the innovation of the "Swing stick" which was called True Swing then) went en masse to EA to redevelop the Tiger Woods franchise. Essentially PGA 2000 became the Tiger Woods we know today. The franchise was already there, but it was far from PGA's gameplay.Steam: BahnzoComment

I'm sure many of them weren't kept around. It was years ago, but I remember PGA being light years ahead of Tiger then.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: Bobby Jones would be dissapointed
I guess you haven't played the Links 2003 version of Augusta National created by Andrew Jones? Flawless.............and he updates it every year, and he has also made the Par 3 course which is fun to play.
Do yourself a favour, forget that crap EA put out every year, get yourself a copy of Links 2003 and go to http://linkscorner.org/courses/index...se&SearchText= and download all the great courses of the world............for free!Hating Collingwood and umpires since 1979Comment

I'm sure it's a good game, but I'm pretty much over using my PC to game with.Steam: BahnzoComment

Augusta National has told EA every year that they are not interested in the added exposure or revenue that licensing the course to EA or any other software company would proved them....PC / Xbox One X

Re: Bobby Jones would be dissapointed
I have sort of the opposite problem. I could definitely play Links 2003 on my high-def TV, but playing TW10 on the Wii has ruined all other control schemes for me. So now I'm playing non high-def graphics on my high-def TV while swinging a remote.Comment

Re: Bobby Jones would be dissapointed
Ya know I wonder.....why not make it as a fantasy course? Just recreate the holes and name it something else. Is the layout of a golf course something that's trademarked/copyrighted?Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: Bobby Jones would be dissapointed
And I don't think EA wants to get into a legal pissing match with a bunch of ticked off old and ultra-rich white guys.Last edited by pskepsilon; 06-18-2009, 05:20 PM.Comment
