Wii users - How are you tuning your clubs?

I'm trying to up the difficulty by tuning my clubs. I noticed that the Wii version doesn't have the sweetspot option. How can Wii users make the game more difficult?

I've upped all the power and workability settings - does that decrease the sweetspot?

i did that too i just assumed it would make the game more difficult.

Other ways to make the game harder is, shut off the putting meter. (not really needed) I would like to shut off the green grid but there is no camera view to really take a decent look at the slopes. I tried shutting off the shot preview zoom in. It makes it somewhat fun when you can see where your shooting (1st hole at Bethpage), but not fun when u cant see anything.

Did you just up power and workability to the Max for each type of clubs?

That's what I did, and I can barely break 90, you really have to swing smooth to hit the ball straight, it does a good job of emulating how I really hit the ball.

It definitely adds some difficulty. I'm just not sure what the best balance is to make it tough. I think I'll just up power and workability to the max for each type of club.

If you think about it, the new WMP swing mechanics make the "sweet spot" kind of an arcane concept, because now if you "mi****" the ball you're just going to get a hook or a slice of varying severity. I suspect that maxing out workability would be the best way to add difficulty, because at lower levels I bet it doesn't hook or slice as severely on an unintentional mis-hit as it would with a greater workability rating. I'm going to have some fun tinkering with clubs of various "levels" and seeing how the tuning affects things.

Let me know what you come up with. I want to earn my scores instead of shooting in the low 60s every round

I think the larger issue with regard to overall game difficulty has more to do with your player attributes than it does with the club tuning. If you want the game to be challenging, the best way to do it is to refrain from improving your characters' attributes past a certain point.

In particular, I'd keep the "Luck" and "Putting" stat down. I made the mistake of improving my "Putting" skill and I'm pretty sure it basically turns the hole into an increasing "vacuum" on any shot you make that's close. It could be my imagination, but I'm draining a lot more twenty and thirty foot benders than I think I should. I think the game takes the power and then depending on how high your "putting" stat is, it adjusts it a certain degree to the "proper" one, and likewise for direction. If it's close to the hole, the higher the "putting" stat, the more likely the putt will be subtly altered to guide it in the hole. If that's the case, it diminishes the realism of the experience and I'd recommend not improving it too much. Unfortunately, there's no way to take the stats away once you've upgraded them.

I too would love to make the game more challenging. I'm shooting low to mid 50's. I would like to be shooting like I do in real life (90's) so I could see if the game possibly helps with your real golf game. Be a good training tool getting swing right so your not hooking or slicing.

Try maxing the power and workability when tuning your clubs. See if that makes a difference
