I know this is a lame thread - and I usually hate them - but thanks TW developers

These kinds of threads usually annoy me, but I have to hand it to the TW developers.
I love this (expletive deleted) game.
I have played at least two rounds a day since I bought the game.

I have not loved videogame golf this much since the Genesis days.

The precision putter was big for me. Being able to properly judge distance. And yet, oddly enough, I have never sucked this bad at putting. Which I love, because I'm supposed to suck at putting.

Thanks to baa7 who came up with those sweetspot settings, I'm loving this game even more (though I didn't like spending 540 MS points to buy expert wedges, irons and woods).

This is the first golf game in a long time that legit ticks me off ... but in a good way. I have played 11 career offline tourneys and only made the cut in one. The way it should be.

If you let me set up my own darned tourneys, you will grow in my eyes. If you stop locking everything, I will send the office (I was there) a stripogram congratulations.

Anyway ... thanks for a great game. Probably a game that's gonna force me to return another 360 with #%$%#! red lights.

I agree Love the game. Suck at putting

BTW, just bought spy glass. Can I incorporate that somehow into my pga tour?

Unfortunately, no. Stupid on their part.
But, apparently, there will be online tourneys with Sawgrass.

I thought I was the only one that realism-obsessed and/or just plain lousy. This is easily one of the best next-gen sports games I've played. I appreciate that the developers added both the club tuning feature and precision putting. It gives us sim weirdos the opportunity to finally enjoy the console version of this series.

where are these sweetspot settings you speak of.....and why do i need expert clubs? i am using the same clubs they gave me when i created my guy, the generic EA clubs. I did buy a putter though

what are you guys doing to make the putting more difficult? i am starting to get too good at this game now that my ratings avg is 10

i feel like its more because of the easy greens and weather. The live weather is great, but in my offline tourneys i am not getting the kind of weather i want. meaning strong wind. Usually i see 5-15 mph wind. I need more wind and expert hole placements.

but the other thing is i am finding that the 15-20 foot putt is easy to sink for bird. The reason being is the break is not that challenging. I dont want to turn the grid off because then i cant see any break.

          thoughts? (playing Tour Pro btw)

I added some observations about sweetspot adjustment on a Tuning Clubs thread about a week ago. I'm actually shocked anyone read any of it.

The higher the clubs (expert is the highest), the more you can adjust things like sweetspot and draw/fade capability. I found for example that wedges are terribly accurate, even with a sweetspot of 0. But the only way you can adjust the sweetspot down to 0 is if you have expert level wedges.

As for putting: once your putting attribute gets above 65% or so, there's so little play in the swing that putting becomes fairly easy, even on Tour level and without the meter. I've been counteracting that by playing a 9-hole round every 2-3 games and intentionally shooting like crap, after which my attributes all take a huge hit. The other thing I did is turn off the grid (as you mentioned). I cycle thru the various camera views to read the green. Moving the green elevation marker over the green also helps. It's tough, but I've tried going back to using a grid and I now find it gives too much info.

Which is why the developers need to include editing options for offline tour mode. The ability to edit weather, pin placement, green speed, etc. in tour mode was a standard feature in Links, and in this series for years as well. But then EA removed the option for whatever reason -- too much work to include it in the game, I would guess.

i guess i should look at the expert clubs as an option. But also playing a crappy round to get more ratings down. I have a 1.5 boost on my ratings which i can also remove, but i like the goofy payne stewart outfit i am wearing

i went right to live weather so i was hoping someone would say that not using the live weather would give u options for setting the conditions. BOOO EA for not allowing us to setup these things. Wind and pin placement make a huge difference in scores.

Once you get Expert clubs, you won't need to purposely play a crappy round if your sweetspots are low....

Well, yes and no. I have expert clubs with the sweetspots tuned way down, and my attributes mostly go up after a round. Not as quickly as they did before, but they still keep going up. I'm still having to intentionally lower them like that, once they get into the 7 range.

                      Yes, yes, yes.

                      Customizability is huge.

God, I wish they could just patch this in (but of course they won't).

And it wouldn't hurt to have an option to cap ratings. Yes, I know there are passwords, but I don't want to type in a damn PW every time I play.

That is way beyond the scope of a patch...

I just hope they add an option to remove the swing meter. That would seriously add to the realism of the game.
