    Some quick questions concearning TW10...

Long time reader, first time poster....Let me say that OS has some really knowledgeable people here and I have spent many an hour reading reviews and thoughts on many different games here....You folks have a great Forum!!

Let me first give a quick background on myself before I dive into my TW10 questions.....Im 31 , got an Atari 2600 in 85' and never looked back...My life changed when I got my Genesis and NHL Hockey in the early 90's....All I have played in my video game lifespan are Sports Games (80% EA Sports).....

Needless to say I have watched EA go from GODS of the sports gaming world to Patch Era Idiots and it really has broken my heart to see this after all the years of bringing me great joy in the 90's....

But seeing as we are in the Patch Era where games are just THROWN onto shelves with very little testing (in my mind) it has been a struggle for me to stick with EA....They seem to be stuck in making games Half Arcade-Half Sim, which DOES NOT WORK IN MY MIND!!!!

So that leads me to my questions on TW10...

It seems to me that the AI scores RUIN the Tour mode (which is most likely all I will play), has there been any indication this will be fixed????? I'm a big fan of realism in games (Remember MVP Baseball 04 with NO WIND??!!) and the computer shooting in the 50's every round does not seem at all realistic......I saw the threads that talked about the CPU winning Tourneys with -20 to -30, that is UNACCEPTABLE in my mind......Tour Mode sounds 100% unplayable with CPU scores of this nature (Anything lower than -20 or -25 should be SUPER RARE and a fantastic feat).....

Also, a thing that bothered me was Tourney Purses....The last TW I played was 06 and I was not pleased that I would win a Tourney and get only several thousand dollars......Has this been fixed as well or is the cash you get only good for unlockables like clothes and clubs????? It would be nice to have POINTS count toward that stuff and you Tour Winnings be realistic....

Other than those two things, it sounds like a very fun game, but to me the AI scoring makes the game unplayable until fixed..

    Any thoughts or comments??

Love the beginning of that post haha

Do you not have online capabilities? I started my offline tour and it's fun, I mean but really I'm just using it to fine tune myself for online... I don't play random people online (I'll pick up a game here or there if I'm wanting to play) but generally I play with friends who own the game.

That makes this game great in my mind. I've been playing friends online since last Friday and it's pretty damn fun.

You can adjust the AI's tour offline ability in your settings... but if you have online capabilities, I suggest you start using this game for that purpose more so than playing the AI.

First of all, let me say that my opinion is worth next to nothing. But since you asked...

I would be shocked if EA did anything about the AI scoring. That's not the way EA operates these days. If you're unable to look past this 'glitch' then the game's probably not for you. Myself, I've just learned to ignore the AI scores altogether and enjoy the single-person gameplay--which is quite good IMO.

I can't give any answer about the purses because I've never come close to winning anything. My last tournament (4 rounds) I scored -6 on Tour Pro setting and I was elated that I managed to score this low. Of course, the LOWEST AI score was -20. So you'll definitely have to deal with the Godlike AI if you purchase the game. It's up to you.

P.S. If you have the chance you may want to rent the game before you buy.

Thanks for the response coljesep224 and GO PENS!!! (I grew up in Red, Deer Alberta in the 80's and was a Pens fan during the Oliers and Flames Cup runs, teased constantly).....

I do have online but I hear that the scores are the same, people shooting in the 50's and rocking -30's and -40's for 4 day totals, that is just silly.....

I suppose I can just play with friends but I really enjoyed the Tour Mode of some of the past games....

Is it just me or does EA Sports take 5 steps back for every 1 step forward?????

Only in the Wii version. I have the 360 version, and there's no such option.

I would have said that 2 years ago. But their games are making great strides (with the exception of Madden) -- FIFA is terrific, NHL is very good and this is the first Tiger Woods console game I would dare to recommend to video golf affectionados.

Don't know how accurate the offline tour mode scoring complaints are. In the tourneys I've played, the tourney winners shot in the -15 to -20 range. But I was never in contention, so...

Tourney purses are still unrealistically low, and you'll have to unlock things or pay to unlock them, which does indeed suckage greatly. Maybe rent the game and see for yourself?

I drove the highway between Edmonton and Calgary dozens of times during the 80's. Whenever I hit Red Deer, I would roll down the window and shout, "LOSER!!!" Yeah, that was me, and I'm sorry about that.

Gray, with online I've pretty much given up on trying to play community players unless I'm testing things out... I shot a round with 2 players, me and another player chose our created, the other guy played with Tiger... to me that's lame but I was just playing to get a feel for online play.

The best thing I've found with online play in any game is to get a group of friends you know/trust and play them... we started a league up and it's gonna be a lot of fun I think, but mostly because we know nobody will cheat and everybody is close to the same level of ability.

As far as the AI scoring, I am starting to see what others are complaining about. In the first Major at Oakmont, I finished 17th with a -27 while Tiger shot -35. VERY unrealistic.

I do believe however that my days of playing offline season mode are coming to an end. After I return from a 3 week trip to West Africa (leaving tomorrow).

In Mike Devault's latest Blog, EA is working on providing ONLINE SEASON mode to this year's game. If they pull this off, I am done with offline play. They are also looking to improve the Live Tournament play experience.
