Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
Eight bucks a course, wow. Mamma told me to get into video game development back in the 60's -- I should have listened to her instead of smoking all that dope.
I unlocked all the courses a week and a half ago. I'm in the process of playing multiple rounds on each, to learn how they each play: best holes for driver vs 3 wood off the tee; where the hazards are; shot positioning on the greens; etc. It's going to be a long while before I'm completely familiar with the default courses that come with the game. I just can't imagine needing to spend money on additional courses at this point. -
Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
It's beautiful but hard to call it worth the money. I can see myself playing it many times to get the tricks of the course down. But it is pretty much all about the tricks and once you learn the holes that will take a lot of the novelty out of it. Some of the shots were obviously set up with a boosted drive in mind but that will only add to the challenge.
It's unfair but it is unfair in a way you can learn to beat and that will be the reason for playing it more than once.
An Augusta course that is playable in season mode might be worth this much for one course but nothing else. Definitely not a course that EA doesn't have to pay a licensing fee for.
Pretty much blows away some of the pre-release hints that download courses would be more reasonably priced this year.Comment

Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
I don't like paying 7.50 for real courses so, there is no way I would ever pay that much for a fake one.Comment

Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
I don't mind the fake courses being available, but I think it's just too much $$. If they had some deal where they offer 3 courses for $10, that might be different. I don't know how difficult it is to develop a course, but it seems like if we can get 4 maps in a pack for a shooter for 8 or 10 dollars they could have a course pack of some kind.Comment

Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
I never played the original. I got this one.
I don't like the course really. It is one of those things where you have to basically just know where to hit the ball. Kind of fun for something different, but not really what I was looking for.
The CPU golfers don't know how to play it. On a few holes, they would just chip the ball out of bounds until they hit the stroke limit (and they still beat me).
At least on 360 I noticed a few graphics slowdowns.
Overall: very pricey and not that great IMHO.Go Sabres!Comment

Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
I didn't like this course when it was in TW'04 or TW'05. For $7.50 or $8 I can see myself finding reasons not to like it even if it has improved. I remember it being too gimmicky.
Good to know that the CPU golfers still can't play it.Comment

Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
I aint downloading this garbage...think about it if they come out with 6 or 7 courses youll have just as much money invested in that many courses than you do in the whole game and the Wi has like 27 courses right from the get go. Good point.
I've never understood that sort of thinking. Game developers are free to charge whatever they want for their products. It's the people who buy those overpriced products who are the jackasses.Comment

Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
Same here... I think the Predator was #1 on my list of courses to avoid. It just had so little to do with golf, IMO. The only fantasy course I ever liked (and I at least tried them all) was Central Park, and I'm not totally sure why I liked it. If they were to offer it as DLC, I'd probably buy it, although $7.50 for a fantasy course seems way overpriced... who are they having to pay licensing fees and lazer imaging costs to for these?Duke Football? Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
Wii has more courses because they take up a LOT less space that what fits on a 360 disc (PS3 disc holds more, but obviously a different product is not going to happen between PS3 and 360). The PS3/360 courses are a LOT more detailed and take up a LOT more space; therefore 16 is the limit of what can fit on a 360 disc, and that means that is what will be on the PS3 disc as well.
I definitely love the Predator course in HD, it's beautiful. Tried the daily tour pro tourney today and somehow shot a +5. The rain definitely helps on those hellacious greens.Comment

Re: Anyone tried out the Predator DLC?
I checked the video of The Predator at the Tiger Woods 10 website... it's definitely a looker. I just didn't "get it" for some reason when I tried it on the PS2. I think it's partly because I find it frustratingly difficult.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment
