I wish that the scores of other players would reflect the difficulty of the course

Not only the course but the event and the weather, etc..

Playing the U.S. Open at Bethpage, I played and had a semi-realistic, difficult four rounds. I was actually tied for the lead with a couple of holes left in the 2nd round, but after the simulation a couple of golfers pulled ahead of me. So I was one stroke behind after the cut.

Third round, 21 MPH winds and I played average, ended up 8 under or so, shooting a +2 for the round.

The other guys just kept shooting their 6 unders.

Fourth round, 15 MPH winds and I started playing really bad. The course finally just started eating me up due to pin placements, the inability of my golfer to drive the ball as far as say Tiger, etc.

The other golfers just kept shooting their 6 unders. The winning score was an incredible -30 by Luke Donald, in absolutely horrible conditions on one of the toughest golf courses in the world. I finished tied for last (of those that made the cut) with my -6.

I had a similar experience...Anthony Kim won the US Open in my season with a -29.

I have also seen tourneys won with scores in the -30s as well as Tiger winning a tourney with a score of -42.
