In TW 08? No. And you're able to edit CPU golfers' abilities, so it's possible to have them shoot whatever you set as realistic tourney scores. I created two files of 200 CPU golfers, one where the CPU tourney winners averaged -10, and another file where the CPU tourney winners averaged -20 (for more of a challenge).

Re: CPU scores are ALWAYS extremely low?
If you play a CPU golfer one on one in a quick game, they never miss putts inside 20 feet and birdie every hole (literally). Their approach shots can usually get inside 20 feet easily every time (no matter what conditions). They will often drain monster putts as well.
It gets frustrating playing tour pro. My scores are very realistic, but the girl with the white sweater can beat me by 12 over 18 holes on most courses.Go Sabres!Comment

Yeah, I've noticed that also.
I only play offline...so it's a big negative for me personally.
I played a round last night where it was raining and windy...I battled away for a +3.
I thought "good round in the conditions..." but the leaders are 7 under after one!
And there's tonnes of them...half the CPU leaderboard are 5 and 6 under after playing in the rain and wind?
I simmed the second round and the outright leader was 15 under after two. On pace for 30 under to win the tourney.
It's really dissapointing as those scores are crazy, especially in the rain and winde.
It kinds of kills offline play as it's pointless trying to play realistically and competeComment

Re: CPU scores are ALWAYS extremely low?
This is exactly what I have done. I started on Tour Pro but my scores were so high that I had to let my ego take a hit and admit to myself that I wasn't good enough to simulate a pro golfer on that level. Now I am at least shooting around par instead of +15 every round.Comment

Re: CPU scores are ALWAYS extremely low?
I'm wondering whether the differences in AI scores that people are noticing is anything to do with the console they are using. There is a difference in the graphics (xbox has moving trees, ps3 doesn't) and perhaps the same thing is true of the AI scoring. On my ps3 I'm getting winning 4-round totals of about -15 so far at tour pro level, which is reasonable. Is it just xbox users getting the -25 and lower scores I wonder?Comment

Re: CPU scores are ALWAYS extremely low?
I just finished a 4 round tournament at Doral, season mode, where the winning score was -12. This is on Tour Pro, Xbox 360. I shot a -6 and finished in the top 10. I thought that was pretty realistic. It was the first cut I had made in any tourney and I was playing lights out for me. I avoided double bogeys and shot 71-70-70-71 for the tourney. I really enjoyed it. I didn't do anything spectacular, when I missed fairways I tried to grind out pars. I basically just tried not to get any big numbers. Putting can always cause a double bogey or two during a round for me, but I am getting better at judging the power on the precision putting. I love this game and I still haven't unlocked the expert irons, wedges and whatnot. I've lowered the sweet spots, but I can't wait to get the expert clubs for everything so I can really test my swing.PSN: Koolie_G

If it was a proper tourney with a cut, -12 wouldn't have won it.Comment

Re: CPU scores are ALWAYS extremely low?
The low CPU scores will force me to take the game back. It makes PGA Tour season mode unplayable and the online tournaments with people shooting 50 are just ridiculous.
Personally, the game difficulty for me is perfect. I have to play VERY well to break par. I've done it twice in about 30 rounds. I like that, but the rest of the game is ridiculous. My only option to compete is to either spend money and upgrade everything or max out my skills and shoot in the low 60s every round. Hardly a simulation.Comment

Well, i just made my first cut, in the 4th tournament I've played in. Right now I'm at -1, and Tiger Woods is in the lead at -8. We'll see how it turns out...Comment

Re: CPU scores are ALWAYS extremely low?
Total gamebreaker. I got to the EA Sports Major at Oakmont. Tiger with a -28, a few others with -25's. Tons of dudes -15 or better. No sim golf for the 360. I hate you EA, you have ruined the PGA license.Comment

Re: CPU scores are ALWAYS extremely low?
I can confirm that the CPU simulated scores are ridiculous for me on the PS3. This is my first time buying Tiger Woods, so I'm not a great player. After a few days of struggling to make the cut, I fully admit to buying the max- out clothing, as I was tired of constantly having to repeat the same drills to get back to where I was previously, not to mention the fact that I wouldn't mind at least finishing in the top 20 once in a while.
I am now maxed out with well tuned, advanced clubs. With all this help, the best I have shot is -20 under in a four day tourney. I finished 38th with that score.
From my perspective, the single player career mode is indeed ruined, and I will be selling the game. I cannot believe EA is so thoughtlessly sloppy with such a simple but important aspect of the game. I could write a far more accurate CPU score simulation on a 20 year old Apple II in about ten minutes.
There is even a tour challenge that involves beating or matching Woods' score of 61 on a particular course. The selection screen mentions that this is the lowest score of his career. Hilariously, he's probably shot better than that 20 times so far in career mode against me.
I dropped the tournament length to 2 days in an attempt to reduce the ridiculous CPU lead. They still flirt with 20 under over two days.
Even more ridiculous is the fact that 3-6 players tie at every single score between -20 and -5. In turn, my 30th place is actually a tie for 6th.
The analogies involving 20 run baseball scores and 90 point football scores are absolutely correct. As far as I'm concerned, I'm already cheesing like hell with my magical maxed- out shirt, and even that's not enough to compete.Comment
