------------------------------------------------------
I am hoping that the EA/TW Devs read these forums and take our suggestions seriously. I have a few ideas that I think could enhance play in the future version(s) of TW Golf.
1. CADDIES! Caddies are a huge part of professional golf. Caddies don't only loop the course with a bag on their shoulder. They help with club selection and reading greens. Perhaps in Tour Mode, the level of the golfer/available money/etc. can help determine the quality or caliber of the caddie a player can hire. Obviously a caddie as experienced as Stevie would require a great deal more money than someone whose man just graduated from Q School. What this means in the game (on the course), the higher the caliber of the caddie, the better advice you will receive. For example in current Tour mode, no green reading is available. In this suggestion, you may choose to consult with your caddie about a critical putt. However, he may not provide the best read. If you choose to take his advice and it is slightly off, it may cost the putt or, worse, the tournament. As Johnny Miller will always say, the Player always has the final say and its his fault (not the caddy's) when he chooses the wrong stick or bad line.
2. Dynamic rain gear. Now that we have changing weather throughout a round, shouldn't there also be changing gear? If one were to play in torrential rains without the proper gear, rain suit, umbrella, spare gloves, the game would become even more difficult. It is the player's responsibility to carry these items in their bags to be prepared. If they don't have them, the game's difficulty should be increased or lessened according to the availablity or quality of the gear.
3. There needs to be a attribute cap or sliding scale or to put it into golf terms, a handicap system, for online tournaments. It is impossible to have fun and compete against scores like -80 that occur in a four round tournament. From what I understand, some folks are perhaps not playing with the highest integrity as one would expect for the game of golf. When you establish a USGA handicap (realtime), twenty rounds are recorded and used in the mathematical equation that establishes a handicap. Also when playing in your weekly league, generally the first 3 -5 weeks of the season are used to establish your league handicap. Why not create a handicap system so the "playing field is leveled"? If some people are going to compete such that they are birdieing or eagling every hole, the average straight shooter should be able to compete wth them. This maybe possible by lowering their ability attributes as their scores improve. It sounds backward but it may actually be an effective way to have more "normal" or realistic scores.
4. This is only for game aesthetics... how about a tournament wardrobe or clothing schedule. I don't usually change my Player's clothes per round. I either forget or am just too lazy to bother. It would be nice if they did wear something different during the four rounds of a tournament. Can a daily clothing schedule be created? Or perhaps even more simplified... by getting hired by a sponsor that pays you certain amount per year. Then you will be required to wear what the sponsor chooses for you.
So these are just a few of my thoughts to improve and already fun game. Thanks in advance for giving them some consideration.
