Can someone explain why power boost is not sim/realistic thus not in tour pro...?

Why in tour pro mode is power boost not an option and why isn't it stock???

If i wanted to create Tiger's Final Round at Firestone on Sunday I don't think its possible without power boost.... I can't hit a 7 iron that carries 195 to a 211 pin or whatever club (usually long irons) and stops on certain par threes even with nearly identical wind conditions....

I can't hit a 370 yard drive on #9 even with a 15 mile downwind and ideal conditions on tour pro....

In real life I'm a scratch/+ golfer who likes to think on certain holes i can juice a driver farther or thrash an iron out of the rough by actually increasing my clubhead speed thus the distance/trajectory/spin bonuses....

I understand the 100% should be your maximum available clubhead speed but that's not how it works...I've seen Tiger's driver clubhead speed range from 116-124 but you better believe he can swing in the low 130's even in competition but it's just not ideal...

I agree. In fact, Tiger in one of the Tiger Challenge vids mentions he had to put extra muscle on his shot to get it over a trap and on the green. Overpowering the shot with a commensurate loss in accuracy has been a staple in every single video golf game. Omitting that option was wrong.

I partially agree but I don't think Power Boost should be in Tour Pro in the same fashion that it's in Amateur b/c that is just unrealistic. By using Power Boost you can basically hit the ball 350+ yards every time with little risk of error.

In real golf you can swing hard and hit it further but there is usually a certain amount of risk in doing this.

So I agree that there should be some sort of way for you to do this but it needs to be implemented in such a way that there is a risk/reward trade off of some sort.

I don't disagree, but people use power boost on every shot. On other difficulties there's no situation when you don't use full boost (unless you are laying up).

If they made driving overall much less accurate and realistic, it might be ok, although I hate the way it is done tapping a button on the controller while you swing. If it never got added in on tour pro I would never miss it.

I think what you are really looking for is a way to overswing. I hate the power boost because it is an arcade feature IMO. If they offered a way to overswing, then there would be no need for powerboost in ANY mode. I would rather the swing setup and the actual swing with the analog stick dictate how accurate/far I hit the ball.

Why not? My 8I is rated at 188 (don't carry a 7) and my 6I is rated at 204. Depending on the wind and elevation, I am covered for reproducing that shot. An overswing feature would allow me to smoke the 8I if I wanted to. I see what you are saying there...

Yea I meant actually playing with Tiger I don't think that stuff is editable, and that's an interesting bag setup with the 7 omission and Phil Mickelsonesque jacked up lofts but whatever works right??? lol

I think as been mentioned a pre shot address setup thing could be useful as well as a realistic clubhead speed range for your player which includes an overswing and a ballspeed/mi**** idea incorporated with a more tempo based swing as well. Tiger could talk about how he adjusts his posture and swing plane for Augusta compared to Turnberry or something and EA is all set...

subtract off 20% and adjust your power cap attribute and you got your sim carry #'s and thats not even messing with clubs/sweetspot....
