    Why oh Why...

I wish some other company out there would make a golf game.. I am a sim gamer so I dont have much fun with TWG ( not for a long time anyway ).

I just dont understand why they are leaving golf to EA..Its one of the few sports where you dont even have to have the PGA brand and since there isnt a Players Union like MLB / NFL ect you can sign individual players. Get Mickelson , Duval , Sergio and others and then get some real life courses ( EA probably has of those on lockdown I guess ) that are used during the PGA season , real life public courses and maybe some fake ones as well.

If anyone at T2 or 2K sees this... BRING BACK LINKS! With no College BBall / Football games you can swing it no problem!

Take 2 has owned the rights to links for about 4 years now and have buried it. Pretty sure it is because Golf is a niche' videogame sport that is difficulty to make a return on investment. Look at all of the Golf developers/publishers how have entered the market and failed.....

I hear what you're saying man. The game sucks for online tourneys and offline AI comp. But if you want it to play more sim offline solo, you should play without using the zoom button. I just started doing this, and it has made it a way better game. You have to tune your clubs' sweet spots low, too, so you get some misses here or there. But the zoom button imo is the number one thing to make it more sim, especially off the tee. Aiming without the zoom on difficult fairways is awesome because you don't know if your gonnna make it or not. And they made the courses look really accurate, so that is cool, too. Anyway, just saying.

That is true.. The initial cost of getting the game off the ground is the biggest expenditure .. But I always got the vibe that they buried it because of all the other sports titles they had.. Tennis , Football , BBall , Hockey..ect. I mean if they want to waste time on a Boxing game they surely could work with a Golf game.

Oh well.. A man can wish cant he?

I dont really like having to TRY and screw myself over just to get scores that are maybe half way acceptable.. That is the opposite of what sim is to me.. The game is sim or it aint and in TWG case .. it aint.

Bottomline, spend 10 minutes tuning your clubs and you'll have trouble breaking par. It's a very good game and you can make it as challenging as you care to. But you have to be willing to give the game a chance, and from what I'm hearing it doesn't sound like you're interested.

no...maybe his opinion is different than yours.

i myself think its not close to much sim either, therefore not that great of a game "to me".
give it a chance hell any longer and they will be shooting rounds in the 20's

No, it sounds like he's unwilling to spend the time to use the in-game tools the developers provided to make the game challenging and therefore enjoyable. Doesn't sound like you spent the time doing that either.

ahhh just another know-it-all you have no idea how much time ive spent with this game nor do you have any idea how much the other poster did either.

the game has good points no doubt but has plenty of "major" problems also. thats my opinion based on my experience with it.

i actually was tempted to sell it on ebay shortly after i got it but didnt and spent much more time with it...but still no dice as far as im concerned.

Yeah, that comes from investigating the in-game features and options, and spending hours discovering the best way of creating a sim golf experience. You know, instead of wasting time lamenting about Links and PGA 2000. TW 10 has some issues, but getting it to play sim isn't one of them.

                    Re: Why oh Why...

Sorry if I hurt your feelings baa7.. I had no clue someone would take offense by what I said. Though I should have known considering you are the only fanboy around here that whines everytime someone opinion differs from yours.

With that said.. You asume much. I have spent plenty of time with TWG.. I am tired of its crappy gameplay and its lack of detail on the things that make a golf game realistic. I am not going to jump through hoops to try and nerf my character down to where I might get results that are maybe in realm of possibility. At its core TWG is NOT sim period and no mount of " tweaking " will change that. The scores are out of control no matter what you do.. I am sure the next thing you suggest will be to hit a shot backwards on each hole so I can keep my score down.. right? That will give me more realistic scoring results than the tuner will but you dont see me doing that now do you..

I only used Links as an example because the game technically still exists in some form at T2/2K. Any other game that is SIM at its CORE will be fine with me. Not some arcade mess that you have to run around circles with to try and get realistic results.

                      Re: Why oh Why...

I'll back up baa7 a bit here. I play pro tour and used the club tuner to reduce accuracy, and TW is playing a realistic game of golf for me.

I played two rounds this morning. Shot -2 at TPC Boston in the online tourney. Offline, I shot 72 in the second round at Hazeltine after a 67 in the first round. I have a two-stroke lead.

Sure, I have my gripes. Tiger wins too much, and I'm still way too accurate off the tee. But for whatever reason, TW and I combine for a pretty realistic game. I'm satisfied, and I've played every PC and XBox golf game there's been, going back to the first Links.

sure it does...just look at the scores.

why the hell is it so hard to understand that ppl have different opinions than you???????
know it all....as in you seem to know that i and others havent invested enough time in the game....get a grip dude!!
your really starting to sound a lil silly by stating things you havent a clue about.
