Re: All the updates are about WII !
EA Sports just released info called EA Sports Online Pass. If you buy the game new, on the back of your Tiger Woods guide, there will be a redemption code, which you would enter when prompted. You can also sign up for a 7-day free trial. If you buy the game used, you can pay $10 to get a code. What this idea may do is keep people from setting up multiple EA acconts, in order to "cheat" the system. I think its a good idea. Each EA title in 11 will have its own specific code, starting in June with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11.Comment

Cheat the system my ***. Sounds like a cash grab to me, a way to get everybody to buy the game new. Just when I thought EA couldn't sink any lower. EA may call it the online pass. I call it a $10 fee for patches and roster updates for anyone who won't pay $70 for a yearly sports game.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 05-11-2010, 12:35 AM.Comment

Re: All the updates are about WII !
Did you even read what the Online Pass is all about? They are not charging for patches, or upgrades. If you read the story you would see that retailers collect and keep the money on used copies of games, not the publisher. If you don't want to pay, don't. EA is not putting a gun to your head and forcing you to buy anything. I have a PS3 and don't pay anything for online access, unlike the CrapBox. If EA wanted to be really mean, they could have charged us $10 monthly, not as a 1 time fee. I hate when people whine about stupid stuff.Comment

Then let's not use terms like "CrapBox", 'kay?Did you even read what the Online Pass is all about? They are not charging for patches, or upgrades. The online pass is absolutely a way to generate more new sales vs. used. I can't really blame EA for doing this, though. They are using it as a way to hike the price of the game by collecting something from some of the people that bought the game used. But I can live with that.
If the delay is to get TW 10 DLC courses to work with TW 11, I'm buying on day one. I'm also going to be comfortable buying more courses. I'm sure the bean counters at EA will figure out what is the most profitable way to go, but I hope they see letting us use last year's DLC courses as a way to drive more sales of DLC.
But really, it is way too close to launch for EA to be waiting on a new feature to announce. If those numbers are correct, EA may see the Wii as the lead platform now. Again, while I prefer the 360, I can't fault EA for trying to capture that wii market.
As it stands, I'm a 360 user that is actually leaning Wii for this year. If I can't use my DLC from last year, I may as well keep 10 for another year and give the Wii game a shot.Comment

Re: All the updates are about WII !
I have no problem with the Online Pass. I don't see how it "adds $10 to the cost of the game". Buy the game new at the usual price and you get it free.
I have a big problem with some of EA's practices (like making you purchase items to make your guy better", but this isn't one of them.
They did this for Bad Company 2 and it worked fine.Go Sabres!Comment

Re: All the updates are about WII !
Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait until June 7th before any new info comes out of EA Sports Tiburon, the way things are going. I wish a mod from EA would come on here and tell us why they continue to hold this info from us, or at least give us an idea when they'll grow some kahunas and release the info everyone really wants. They made people mad about the online pass. Give us some more info, then maybe people will forget about it.Comment

Re: All the updates are about WII !
According to EA's forum and EA developer EA_ChristianBrandt, he has stated that a developer blog is Coming Soon. Soon as by the end of the week, or 1 day before release ? Hopefully, it'll be in the next few days. Let's keep our fingers crossed.Comment

Re: All the updates are about WII !
At last a sign of life! Still, this is a real head-scratcher in that it's such a sharp contrast from last year's rollup to launch. We had tons of video, screens, 4 separate developer blogs, countless video interviews prior to now with Tiger Woods 10's launch. I thought it was their most active and multi-fronted P/R campaign in the series' history. Here a year later I'm seeing their weakest promotional work this gen's TW titles!? I hope it's going to make some sense when they finally start to open up about what this title has in store for the buying public.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: All the updates are about WII !
Good to hear they posted news about posting news! They still have almost a month, so no need to worry yet. It is a little strange that they are this quiet. For some EA Sports games we end up getting too much information.
From what I've read (the little they posted) they are taking out the 100% perfect swing and adding some variation in that so hopefully people don't all shoot the same scores in the online tourneys. The fact that a perfect swing will not automatically land dead center in the aiming circle should make the game a lot better. Hopefully online people can't just automatically stick shots on tricky approaches with winds and/or tough pin locations.Go Sabres!Comment

TW 11 Achievements list posted
Here's something from which we can glean some feature details:
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/g.../achievements/
This one tells me that we're going to get an unexpected surprise in having "True Aim" as an option - "Nice view - Complete an 18 hole round with a final score under par using True-Aim"
I also find this one interesting: "Learn From The Pros" - Play a Live Tournament with ball paths turned on. Sounds to me like we might have shot-tracker data to show the telemetry of shots the Pros hit during their rounds in "Play the Pros" Live Tournament play?
There's a lot more on the list, but what a strange way to have new features unveiled to the public!?Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: All the updates are about WII !
I just got the latest GameInformer magazine and they have a preview of the game in it. It says RC mode will be stand alone plus part of single player career. Also the Tiger Challenges will have some new features crowning daily winners and implementing leaderboards(?) . Also the focus meter is like a fatigue meter. I think its more like an on screen confidence meter.Comment

The lack of info is puzzling? I'd really like to put my pre-order in at Gamestop to get Riviera. I'd like to know something concrete about the game though.Go Sabres!Comment
