ESPN should be ashamed of themselves

It was around 8:30 PM (PST) I was waiting for the wife to sit down so we can watch some True Blood. To pass the time I flip it over to ESPN so I could catch up on some baseball scores. The World Series of Poker was on but there''''s always the ESPN ticker. The first thing I saw was their lead category talking about Braden''''s no hitter, NBA playoffs, and of course Tiger withdrawing. A few minutes later, the ticker gets to the actually golf category and all they talk about is Tiger Woods withdrawing from the tournament and something about tingling in his left or right hand. I was really pissed off because I wanted to know who won the The Players Championship. WTF ESPN? In my mind, you just slapped the entire sport of golf in the face by only caring to mention Tiger withdrawing and not giving any respect to the actual winner of the tournament. Way to go Timmy, congrats on winning the Players. Its unfortunate that most people don''''t even care because if your name ain''''t Tiger (Or Phil) no one is going to give a dam. I know, I know, its pretty pathetic but unfortunately, its the world we live in. Way to go ESPN, way to show your true colors.

I think you must have missed it cuz ESPN is pretty good at showing things like that. Sometimes when there is a lot of information on one sport they will show one part during the first cycle through the ticker and then the other part when the ticker cycles through again. I highly doubt ESPN forgot to put it in there or that it was on purpose.
      MLB: Texas Rangers
      Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
      NCAA: SMU, UTA
      NFL: Dallas Cowboys
      NHL: Dallas Stars
      NBA: Dallas Mavericks

I own a band check it out

I thought the same thing so I hit rewind and watched it again to make sure I didn't miss it. Later on I looked at it again and still no mention of Clark winning, it was just about Tiger withdrawing..

The point I was trying to make was that all ESPN cared about was Tiger withdrawing not the winner of the tournament.

I agree I am sick and tired of hearing "Tiger Woods is the sport of golf." It's only that way because of ESPN and ABC treating it that way. The PGA needs to sell the public on other players or they will be broke when Tiger retires.
            Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

I hate ESPN. CBS and NBC aren't Tiger whores, they actually cover the sport beautifully. I watched the entire tournament. Clark's performance on Sunday was unreal.

Most of the people that work for ESPN probably didn't know how many times Tim Clark finished runner-up in heartbreaking fashion. They could probably care less, and that's sad. I agree completely with your post, and that's why I watch The Golf Channel for my golf coverage. It's not as flashy at times, but it's still pretty good. I know they are still Tiger whores to a certain extent, but they at least gave Clark some love as well.

The story would have been good for Clark, Allenby, or Westwood to be honest.

Love the Golf Channel. My tv is on the Golf Channel 70% of the time. They were actually really hard on Tiger last night because of all of his drama. It was entertaining and refreshing. I love Tiger, but he's becoming a drama queen in my opinion. Maybe I'm just sick of hearing about him, I don't know. I hope he can get back to being his old self on the course.

The real story (to me) of the weekend is Westwood choking it away and not being able to close on Sundays. Mickelson went through that for years.

ESPN is not a golf channel..it is a sports channel...the biggest story for a general sports fan out of TPC was that Tiger withdrew. ESPN understands that if you are looking to find out who won the tournament and are that interested in it there is a 24/7 Golf Channel which will break down all of that. ESPN is not in the business of trying to be respectful to Tim..now if you went on ESPN.com and they had the following headlines "Tiger Withdraws from Tourney" or "Tim Clark Wins"..what article will get more hits? ESPN is about viewership, readership. It is a business...understand that. Tiger moves the needle as they say. ESPN is not PBS. They are in it for a profit..Tiger sells
