Any good recommendations for a fairly economical set of clubs? I'm lookin to get started this year, but I suck. I was a pitcher-only in baseball, I reach the green in like, 8...

Driver- Cleveland HiBore XLS
Hybrid- Taylor Made Rescue hybrid
Irons- Square Two SQ2's. 3iron-9pitching (SQ2's are Ping knockoffs)
Wedge- Ben Hogan Sure Shot (not for me)
Putter- My dads old putter from the 90's... cant remember the manufacturer, but I do great with it. I also have an old chip n' run club in there.

Balls-whatever ones I take from the driving range. Or buy bulk online for printing defects.

I carry one of those cheap "Acuity" golf bags. (its Dicks Sporting Goods el-cheapo brand bag for $50)

I'm a terrible golfer. (Chronic slicer/left arm bender/mat thumper.)

But I have fun!

I would get something used, probably a set of Calloway or Pings.

Hybrids - Cobra Bafflers (18 and 23 degree)
Irons - Ping i3 (5-PW)
Wedges - Cleveland 588 Gunmetal (56 and 60 degree)
Putter - Ping Anser 3 (Manganese-Bronze)
Ball - NXT Tour, Callaway Hot Bite (or whatever softer, mid/high spin balls I find)

I've been saying I'm gonna buy a Cleveland lob wedge for 3 months and haven't pulled the trigger. I may add a 3 wood this summer as well but don't really need one..I can crush my Baffler 230 when I hit it good so she's straight.

5-Wood: Old crappy one we've had around the house forever. It's pretty much like a hybrid. But I hit it well, so it stays in for now.
3-9, PW, AW, SW: Taylor Made Burner Oversize
Putter: Odyssey 2-ball White Steel Mallet

I've had my irons forever and I love them. Next upgrade will probably be ditching the 5-wood and getting new wedges, including a 58 or 60-degree wedge.

They are pretty nice, shred up balls though. One solid hit with my 58 and the ball is done for.

I love the Calloway Pre-owned store. I got everything from there and always picked the lowest condition, and honestly, they seemed brand new.

This winter I will be upgrading to the Ping i15s. Hit those and loved them and I can work the ball a little more. My game has improved so much in the past 16 months. I will also be getting the Taylor Made R9 driver for my Birthday this July, not sure which one I want I've hit them all and will do so agian.

I was able to get my new putter and lob wedge at a 60% discount from a Nike Golf Authorized dealer who came by the office.

Played the Sea Pines Ocean Course today in Hilton Head, SC. Shot a 77, played excellent on my first Fathers Day.
