Hitting out of the Rough on the wii 2011

I've found it to be nearly impossible to get any kind of distance when hitting out of the rough or sand on the Wii. For example it may say 110 to pin and only 50-73%, so I switch to another club like an 7-8 iron, which should get me there. I swing at 100% with a decent club contact and the ball still only travels 60 yards. What am I doing wrong? I am using the true view stuff.

    Thanks

That sounds like a game I'd enjoy. I don't enjoy golf games that allow you to blast sand shots 220 yards using a wood, etc. Not very realistic.

Does the Wii differentiate between a plugged sand lie versus a ball you can pick off the top? Maybe that's what's happening and why some sand shots only travel a short distance.

50-73% is with perfect contact. If you're 8 iron is hitting 150 yds and you don't hit it square then you're gonna get around 60-70 yards. Sounds realistic to me if your ball was a fried egg in the sand.
