    Calling all swing experts....

Tips anyone? It's only one angle, but critique my swing. In this video taken at my health club's driving range I'm hitting the Mizuno MP-32s.....Flame away

I'm a 12 handicap. I don't know what the hell to tell you. Most of us have trouble swinging straight in a video game. Your swing looks pretty good to me. You're better off watching those slow motion swings on TV tourneys when the commentators break down what the pro did right or wrong during thier tee shot.

I took lessons one time and while it seemed to help me at the time, 6 months later I couldn't keep track of all the stuff I was supposed to do. All this info was sticking in my head as I was swinging and I must have had a 5 second pause at the top of my swing, doing the Charles Barkley hesitation and looking like a moron, and then going thru what seemed like a 10 point checklist as I followed thru. Felt like I was doing a math test.

All i can remember was keep your left arm as straight as you can, don't try and kill the ball, don't rotate your wrists and keep your elbows in... I think, it was a long time ago. You gotta go by feel sometimes. Like pro golfers it's mostly a crapshoot from day to day. I broke 80 one time and the very next week I shot 101 on the same freaking course. Go figure.

Oh yeah and keep your eye on the ball. That one I guarantee will help.

Looks like you are striking the ball pretty damn well to me. You gotta be a single digit handicapper with a swing like that unless you short game is a mess. The only problem I see is you golf attire

In all seriousness. Swing looks pretty good to me.

I am fairly good at critiquing the golf swing and I personally see little wrong with yours. A face on view would probably help, but you seem to have rotation down pat, keeping the spine angle, the whole 9 yards. Top of backswing looks almost perfect, club facing the target, no cupping of wrists, looks real good. SloMo would show a lot more, but doesn't look like we can do that, doesn't even have a frame forward/back deal on it.

I suspect you are a pretty good golfer. Unless you chip and putt like I do!

The only flaw I see in that swing is the muscle shirt...I would change that.

Right. That range is at my health club where I had just got done with a work out. I certainly wouldn't lift weights in normal golf attire or head to the course in gym attire. Thanks for the feedback.

You seem to stand pretty far away from the ball, what iron were you hitting?

                6. I was waiting on someone to say that. The problem is that I have longer arms
than your average 5'8" person. Occasionally I take it back too flat and end up chili dipping
                a few.

Looks like a real good golf swing to me. The only thing I could notice was some head movement during the swing. Your swing plane looks great.

                    Re: Calling all swing experts....

Hey saw this figured I'd chime in, currently a 2 handicap and my Dad was on the tour for a brief time back in the 80s and is now a retired golf pro.

Anyway. Couple things at quick glance that I noticed.

First. At address, you are a little too upright for me. I like to see a good athletic position with knees bent. Maybe it could be your clubs are too long or something. But i'm guessing that the way you are addressing the ball, that when you miss, you miss left? Is this correct?

Secondly, take away looks good, but at the top of the backswing, it looks like you're a litte inside which can cause you to get "stuck" on the downswing, meaning your hands don't fully release through the downswing. How do I see this? Your right elbow/forearm should be close to upright at the top of the swing, forming a triangle with your left arm. Yours are almost touching at the top, meaning you are too far inside. A drill that will help fix this, is place a ball down. Then take a club and lay it on the ground where the head touches the ball and runs parallel. Tee up a ball around the area where the grip begins on the club. Adjust accordingly for your height. Now remove the club, and on every backswing, try to knock the ball of the tee while hitting full golf shots.

These two things combatting each other can cause for inconsistancy in ball flight and path of a shot, causing you to draw or fade on any given swing. One thing I would recommend would be getting custom fitted for clubs. Alot of people under estimate how important a set of clubs that are designed for your body type are.

Just a couple quick tips, hope that helps.

Here's a video of my swing taken at the beach last week. I noticed I take the club way to inside on the backswing.

yes you sure do, way too inside. you should place a tee directly behind the ball, about 1 ft or more directly in back of it, and another tee about 6 inches next to it, closer to your body. Take the club back so it goes over that tee behind it, and when rotating, drop it and swing inside so you go over the inside tee on the way down.

Fundamental way to start envisioning a proper swing plane. I think a lot of coaches use this technique. It helps.
