Heading to the northern part of Wisconsin for Labor Day weekend, and will be checking out the Apostle Islands as part of the trip. While I'm up there, I'll be playing Madeline Island Golf Club. It's a Robert Trent Jones, Sr. design, which opened back in the 1960s. The course offers picturesque views of Lake Superior on seven of the holes.
Because it's on a small island that's just 14 miles long and 8 miles wide, the course has a very interesting layout in order to get 18 holes in such tight quarters. There are multiple double greens, several shared tee boxes, and holes that share fairways. Because of the double greens, the front nine holes use red flags and the back nine uses white flags.
The most unique holes are Nos. 6 and 15, which share a fairway, then split off in doglegs heading the opposite direction. See the layout below...

I'm looking forward to playing this layout, as not many of these kinds of courses can be found around here. I'll be sure to report back how "well" I play next week!
