    Rough stuff

In another post I said that the TW developers don't pay enough attention to detail. A good example of what I mean is the way the rough plays in the game. It's a good idea to have the rough behaving more and more erratically the heavier it is, but almost every time I go into the rough it is classified as light rough. In 26 rounds of tournament play (including 4 at Bethpage Black!) I have been into medium rough less than 10 times and heavy rough less than 5; all the other times have been light rough, even when well off-line. This is ridiculously unrealistic. Pro players face awkward lies in the rough nearly every round, often several times a round and often near the green (which always seems to be light rough in the game). It's got to the point where I hardly care about missing the fairway or green because I know I'll not be heavily penalised. If instead of having wildly fluctuating wind speeds the game had realistic rough, the game would be more difficult in a more natural and believable way. It just makes me shake my head in despair that the TW developers can't get simple things like this right. As I've said before, it's as if they never play or even watch golf themselves.
