In my opinion, this is hands-down the best version of Tiger I've played, on 360 OR original Xbox. True Aim is a difference-maker.

I am trying to figure out if there is a previous years Tiger Woods game you think would be more cost effective than the Tiger Woods 11. For example my favorite college football game ever is College Football 2004 and my favorite college basketball game is College Hoops 2k5. However, I think NHL 10 is light years ahead of the rest of the series in gameplay so I think it is worth the money. Is there any previous Tiger Woods titles that I would enjoy mostly for playing with friends and if I really enjoyed it some solo tour play?

Note I have an XBOX 360 so the choices are probably Tiger Woods 06 - Tiger Woods 11

Tiger Woods 11 on the Wii is by far the best version of Tiger Woods ever, and that is saying a lot. It's due to true aim.

For games like college hoops and college football, it's a different story. College Hoops 2K5 on PS2 and College Hoops 2K7 on Original Xbox are my favorite college hoops games. NCAA Football 2005 on PS2 is my favorite college football game. This is because no college sports (with the exception of possibly CH2K8) have made a better game on 360 or PS3.

Tiger Woods was great on PS2, i used to buy them back in 2001-2004 and they were great back then. Even back then, I would say the best version of Tiger Woods was Tiger Woods 06 on PC! Yeah that game was awesome.

But Tiger Woods 11 on the Wii is the best ever because you finally have totally control of your swing in real-time. It's a 1:1 simulation of the sport which hasn't really been done in any other sport to that extent. Grand Slam Tennis was great too, but that's probably a bit harder to get 1:1.

I have had previous 3 years TW on the 360, 2011 is definitely the best. They made some good improvements in it. TruAim is very nice and more realistic, they also fixed the computer players, who in 2010, were automatons. Play with them and they never missed a fwy, never missed a green or a putt. And they all made pretty much the exact same shots. It was like they were all using the same skills profile.

Much more variety in them this year, in fact putting may be a little weak for them, too many lip hangers.

I am referring to playing skins with them, or team golf etc. I complained a lot to EA last year about these 'robots' who all played the same, and it seems they listened! Hooray.

Go with 2011.

Does anybody know if true aim can be used in the XBOX 360 demo? I have played that and haven't noticed any difference in the swing compared to previous years.

My honest opinion is Tiger Woods 99 on PC (the original "Tiger Woods" branded game, after changing from the "PGA Tour" title). Every game after that has become increasingly arcade-y, and further-and-further away from golf sim. Even that game had some dumb arcade aspects, but at least it still had the PGA Tour pedigree.

I really just don't like console golf in general, and Tiger Woods specifically. The Tiger Woods series year-to-year just seems indistinguishable to me, and they all have the same dark, muddy, pastel toned graphics, poor camera options, and arcade-y feel to the swing and game in general. Everyone has a different idea of golf games, and a lot of people like the Tiger Woods brand, so if you like it I'd say this year's version seems the most robust. But I will second the Tiger '11 on Wii recommendation; I played it at my friend's place, and it's the only golf game that really feels like you're playing golf to some extent. Although all my favorite games had the "3-click" method, so there must be more to it than just the swing mechanism...

That was my answer!

I was sure I'd be the only one to say it.

God that game was fun. All the weird powerups and crap. One of my most fondly remembered PS1 games.

I was resistant at first play too...it was so different and more difficult..but once I understood it, and played about four or five rounds I fell in love with True Aim and there's no going back now.

i love that it's like golf (well, not like ME playing) - but like TV golf...

i can have a good round going, then put the ball in the wrong part of the green and 3 (or even 4!) putt my way to a double bogey...

really puts pressure on each shot...

the one thing, though, is that i got really accustomed to racking up XP playing amateur and shooting unbelievable scores...

I've been playing on amateur and I think it's time for me to bump it up....but if bumping up the difficulty only results in 20mph wind every hole, every round....welll....LOL. But yes, I think I'm due to make it harder now.

i made the switch about a week ago...

the day i had reached "level 6" - and had built my golfer pretty strong, so missing out on the extra XP wasn't AS big a deal as if i had done tour pro true aim from the start...

one thing, i wish, though, is that you got a little XP bonus for the higher difficulty level...

shooting -9 in true aim should be the XP equivalent of shooting -18 in Amatuer...
