PS Move wasted with TW 11.

I was at a Sony booth that was advertizing the Move and got them to put in TW11.

It was a complete mess and not intuitive at all. Putting didn't work right and you have to use the regular controller to switch any options or go to the menu. Aiming is really hard to do with the wand and is imprecise. I couldn't even get the club face lined up right with the ball even though I was standing right on front of the PS eye. Felt like it was detecting me at a 45% angle. I thought something was wrong with that particular wand or the PS3 but IGN and other sites have said it's a bit of a mess for TW11 and have some of the same complaints I found at the booth.

It gets worse as well as you can't use true aim either. So anybody looking forward to this for TW11 don't waste your money. Hopefully for TW12 they get it right as they can program the game from scratch with Move in mind, rather than a patch, and have it play like the Wii version.

If you were at the Sony booth, did they actually have the Move patch installed? That would be a show-stopper for sure.

TW11 was one of thier featured games for the Move at the booth so I imagine they would have istalled the patch or it wouldn't have worked at all.

Dang, that sounds too bad. I guess its the Wii until next year when they get the kinks ironed out.

I actually heard that John Daly's game was much better with the move, better than TW11 on the Wii. I am going to pick that up instead.

Wow, that's really disappointing. I was going to pick up TW11 because of Move support but I'm going to save my money now. I was really looking forward to it.

I'll believe that when I see it....IMO, the WiiMote+ and TW11 are about as good as it gets...

Well, I bought the Move anyway because Sports Champions actually looked like fun and I'm a sucker for light gun games like Time Crisis and The Shoot, so I gave it a whirl with Tiger Woods and on my setup it's not nearly as bad as it's being described here. I mentioned in another topic that I was very wary of the Move support from the beginning, at least this year, and at first it sounded like my fears were well founded, but after having played with it myself for a while, it's actually much better than I thought it would be.

I haven't had any trouble getting the club face to align the way I want, and the motion tracking seems pretty solid, at least as accurate as the Wii version in terms of pre-shot club movements. It's hard to tell how accurate the draw/fade mechanics are in just a few rounds, but it feels quite similar to the Wii version. The putting, however, does feel more "patched" than it does in the Wii version. It seems to do a reasonable job tracking how far you're pulling back on the putter most of the time, but it definitely seems like the backswing and the accuracy (not strength) of the foreswing is all that really matters, just like the analog swinging. On the Wii version, it really seems like you can vastly affect the strength of the shot by how hard you move the remote forward, whereas on the Move version so far it seems like you can bring it forth as hard or soft as you want and the distance will only be dictated by where the backswing ended and if you shanked it or not coming through. That's just initial impressions, though.

On the whole, it's definitely not as refined overall as the Wii version has become over the years, but I really can't state enough how nice it is to actually be using motion controls without hideous graphics. If the graphics don't make up for the gameplay deficiencies all the way, it's definitely pretty close. I'll probably hold off on buying too many DLC courses for this year's version (unless they announce backward compatibility for future versions of the game) because I'm sure it'll be much better next year.

The aiming is unfortunately something that is a byproduct of the Move's lack of any kind of directional button on the face of the controller. You can set up a navigation controller or wireless controller to aim if you want, but I found the aiming to not be that bad once you get used to it. It's certainly better than having to snatch up a different controller to do it. They perhaps could have made it more intuitive, but it's not that bad and there's really no way around some form of motion sensor aiming unless there's a redesign of the controller with directional buttons.

I don't really mind the lack of the first-person mode. The True-Aim mode is at least better than nothing and lets you follow the shot as you would see it in real life. But I'm sure that'll be included next year.

So if you have Tiger Woods on the PS3 and get the Move, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by it, as long as you're not expecting it to be quite as fully-featured and refined as the Wii version.

After spending the last 3 days with the Move, I can categorically disagree with everything posted above. Now I am not sure about TrueAim as I played 2 rounds with it yesterday in TrueAim and I believe it works with TA, but will check tonight or tomorrow morning. Now don't get me wrong, there IS a learning curve with the Move and I am still learning how to swing properly, but it is every bit as good as TW11 for the Wii and the WiiMote+ so far. There is also a bit of work to do on the Practice Range and in Swing and Club Tuner as well as re-considering what kinds of clubs you play with in order to get good results. I can tell you that I am shooting at Par and sometime just below Par on Pro mode, but have yet to break Par in TOUR PRO. Lastly, make sure you calibrate the Move exactly like the routine tells you. It makes a difference in how it plays as well as making sure your Move can always be seen by the camera.

Lastly, I bought the Navigation controller and at first I hated it because I could not get it to work properly, but now that I have figured it out, it is GREAT for aiming. The only negative I see so far is you still need the DS controller to START the game. There is no button on the Move or Nav controllers that will start the game. Not sure how this one got by QA.....

I also have to disagree. As stated above, there is definently a learning curve. I just finished my first full round with the move, after figuring out how to work it, and it was great.

I played at Torrey Pines and I shot a 104. That may not sound great but I am in a wheelchair and had never picked up a golf club in my life. So whatever. Making a birdie, or par, or any good shot really feels so good because you "own" that shot with the Move if you know what I mean.

I will never play another golf game with a regular controller again. If you have a PS3 you need the Move and TW11
