I'm excited about in-game saves and the addition of caddies is pretty cool.

This is a must-buy for me.

These two features will please a lot of folks. I think I like the idea of having a caddy along for the ride, but I think one the novelty of his vocal input has worn off, I'll want to stiffle his audio, but still have him in sight. I'm hoping we'll have the option to shut him up and just have in the picture. I'm curious how many different angles and perspectives we'll have on the caddy as well. Will we ever see him tend the flag, or pull the club out of the bag and hand it to us?

I'm also given to wonder if the fact that they've thought about including caddies, will we be able to see our opponents and possibly their caddies as well? I always thought this game was missing a huge atmospheric component by not allowing you to see your opponents when they should be in view. Heck, you can't even see their ball, let alone their persona!? Keeping my fingers crossed for some improvements in this department, but we'll have to see.

I'm hoping (assuming!) we'll be able to remove the caddy completely. Apart from the realism factor (real golfers have caddies), I can't see why anyone would want a caddy in a video golf game. In real golf tournaments, where fame and money are on the line, yes, golfers want all the help they can get, but in a video game the fun is in calculating the effect of all the variables like wind and lie for oneself and then executing the best shot possible. I don't want to have all those things worked out for me and then just try to follow instructions. Where's the fun in that?

I seem to recall from watching the preview video on USTREAM that the caddy feature is an option. If they fail to allow you to totally take the caddy out of game, I'll consider that a tremendous oversight.

I'm sure after a round or two, I will tire of having the caddy talk. I want to make the shot decisions myself. To an extent, we have an invisible caddy now. They don't talk nor do you see them, but they do 'put' a club in your hands. About half the time, I override their choice. I want to see the caddy, but that's it. I think they'll help erase 'playing in a vacuum' perception that I currently get playing the game. I still think seeing the other golfers in my group from my player's perspective would be a far greater immersion tool, but I somehow have a feeling we'll still only see them their shot camera perspective. I am curious though, to see how they handle viewing other players when using "True View". It would really be goofy to see another player play their shot using their True View camera.

I'm curious, do we have any TW 11 Wii players tuned in right now? How does the Wii version handle True View in online multiplayer? Are you forced to watch your opponents play their shots from the eyes of their golfer?

I don't want to have all those things worked out for me and then just try to follow instructions. Where's the fun in that?
As an experienced golfer and gamer, I see no fun in it at all, which is why I'm hoping I'll be able to shut them up and not have to see the telemetry tracer for their recommended shot options. As much as I want out of them long term is to be standing where they'd be standing, and possibly have a animation of them handing me a club... once again, as an option.

If having a fully interactive caddy helps sells this game, I have no problem with it being there. I want to reiterate; however, that I think it would be very foolish for EA Sports to force this on the user, which I'm 99% certain it won't be.

seems to me its a "simplifying" feature like the new feature in madden last year.,,

but like an earlier poster mentioned, there is a caddy kinda built into the game, who invisibly puts the "right" club in your hand...

caddy is probably just for immersion, imo

Will there finally be playoffs for events that end in a tie in the game this year? This is one reason I did not buy the game last year, just don't understand why the folks at EA continue to leave out golf's overtime.

I may be the eternal optimist but I think that's probably being considered for TW 14.

If you go by the old saying "good things come to those who wait" then video golf fans deserve immortality for all the time we have waited to have the simplest things put into the TW game.

After reading everything I could about this game, definite purchase. It'll be the first Tiger I've bought in the last 3 years. Definitely copping the Collector's Edition for the extra courses as well.

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12 Features, Enhancements and Box Art, Arrives March 29th

Gamerzines.com has some news about Move support and first-person view in the PS3 version of the game that was published today. The writer attended an "EA Showcase" event in Guildford, UK, and spoke to lead designer, Mike Devault. Here is the PS3 specific part of Mike's comments to the author:

According to DeVault, support for PlayStation Move has been tweaked this year, saying that "the Move and all the motion controllers are a huge focus for us".
This year's PS3 game features the first-person option introduced in last year's Wii version of Tiger Woods, alongside tuned controls and better balanced difficulty levels.

The full story, in which Mike also speaks to the author's question about Kinect support (which ain't happening for Tiger 12) can be read here: http://www.gamerzines.com/xbox-360/n...ur-kinect.html

BTW, I posted the above news in a thread about Move news for Tiger 12, in the official TW EA Sports forum, and it was removed within minutes with no reason given. Maybe this news isn't supposed to be out of the bag yet, officially, or someone there has gotten tired of my stream of inquiry about Move implementation in this year's Tiger? I'm also prying for information about the PS3's likely use of True View for Tiger 12, and this article gives the appearance that the writer's statement about "the first-person option introduced in last year's Wii version" being in this year's PS3 version, as having come from Mike, has something to do with it??

Here's a snip from a short interview at JOE.ie.com with TW 12 Lead Designer, Mike DeVault bit more on how the Move has been refined for Tiger Woods 12:

One of the newest elements of The Masters is Playstation Move functionality, which according to DeVault, helps the title to create “a really entry-level experience and a hardcore sim experience”.

“Last year we had the opportunity to put the Move functionality but the timing was a little weird for us, this year we definitely took what we had and made a ton of improvements on it and polished out all the kinks. It opens up a huge, huge door for us,” he said.

A 'hardcore sim experience' is music to my ears, but I'm glad he mentioned it can also be tailored for an 'entry-level experience'. I think this game engine is capable of covering the entire spectrum in terms of difficulty, especially with a more scalable controller like the Move.

I can't comment on the Move versus the Wii Motion +, but I have heard that the career mode is being gussied up this year. I guess you guys have already read about the progression you much go through to reach the PGA Tour. You have to go though the EA Sports Tour, the Nationwide Tour, and then earn your card in Q-School, if I recall correctly.

I also recall hearing one of the development team (the community knows him as "Handsward") say during the Ustream preview a couple of weeks back that he was working with the career mode himself. He didn't give any details, but from what I've seen, Handsward is a pretty meticulous guy. He also understands gaming and golf... I think we'll see something considerably better than what we've had before.

I just hope that the events in career mode are given some atmosphere. I hate feeling like I'm playing against a spreadsheet. You never see hide nor hare of another golfer during a tournament. I'd love to have the option to play with the nearest licensed pro (or even fictitious player during lower tier events) while playing career events. At the very least, I'd like to see other players playing the hole ahead of me, ie. walking off the green after putting out... just something to give the event some presence.

Agree 100 per cent. I can't for the life of me understand why they don't do this. In the Tiger Challenges you see your opponent's shots and it adds a lot to the drama. But in a tournament you're playing no one. I can't think of an equivalent in any major sports video game where you play by yourself. Simply mind boggling. Hopefully, that changes this year.

Think of the possibilities. You're playing the Masters. You're tied after the third round with Tiger Woods. You're going to need to match him shot for shot in the final round to come away with the win. Think of the excitement as you battle him hole for hole going for the victory. Think of the drama as you watch Tiger miss a 50-foot putt by an inch to give you the lead going into the 18th hole. Think of the disappointment as you watch Tiger chip in from the rough to force a playoff. It's going to make every one of your shots more intense.

How can that not be in the game?
