The putting wasn't that bad at all. I just got done playing 18 at Sawgrass and averaged 3.11 putts a hole. Shot like +20. I tried to do the same things.

Didn't there use to be a putting green, chipping area, and driving range on this game? I swear there was one in TW '07. Am I missing the practice area somewhere? I'm not talking about a practice round. That's all I've been doing since I'm getting tired of losing to Paula Creamer in the Battle Golf before the 2nd AM Tour event.
try focusing on the ball on the bottom left hand corner only...use that to judge your putting.

I actually dialed down the difficulty to amateur and messed around with things in the tuning area, which I sort of used for practice. Things are going a lot better. Still have that wiggle sometimes when I push the stick forward which messes up some putts.

Any tips or suggestions for which putting areas to dump exp into first?

At first I was just leveling them up equally, but now i'm not sure thats the best way.

Also, Can't you reallocate all of your points in the swing-trainer?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I've been bumping up the two in the middle (I can't remember what they are). It's not the one for the grid, although I have been increasing that but not as much. And, yes, I believe you can reallocate the putting points in the club tuner.

Well, I think I might finally be comfortable with this putting thing. I just went out and shot a 56 at TPC Scottsdale. Only had 21 total putts. I am playing on amateur now (w/ very low AI scores - just below insane), which helps with unlimited focus, although that doesn't really do anything for putting other than one putt preview per shot. Anyway, like others have said, it's all about tempo. Don't rush, especially when trying push the stick forward. I pull the stick back and let it go as practice just to get a feel where I need to stop it. It really does help doing that.

I seriously smashed buttons, held buttons, never thought to use the dpad when they could have easily had you just move the left stick after you were in aim mode.

I have the same problem, but I've wondered if part of it has to do with my 360 controller. If I'm looking at it correctly, the little dots on the left stick are not truly straight up and down. Intuitively, I would expect to move the stick from dot to dot to get a straight putt, but I'm starting to think that that gives me the push on putts.

Between the pushed putts and the sheer number of putts that end up inside of 2 feet but don't go in, Tournament mode is beginning to be infuriating. I shot a +9 at Scottsdale yesterday, but probably had 9-10 putts end up within 2 feet of the hole. I can't figure it out. Might have to go down to Tour Pro.

I found the putting to be the same level of frustration as last year at the beginning. Was getting creamed with 3 putting greens until I got the putting to 80 or 90.

You just have to build up your attributes and then it's a lot more forgiving and you should start breaking par on tourney mode.

Only problem is it's taking forever to build up XP points when they get to 3000 points a level. I've been playing countless hours and I still only at 63% driving. 46 accuracy and 45 putting.

One thing I noticed while playing last night, and it's probably been mentioned already but I didn't understand what people were talking about at that point, but the follow-thru, I guess, seems to go straighter if I was holding the stick to the point where the yellow area disappeared. Once I sort of let the stick go in that area, the putting was more accurate, or at least the club went straighter throughout the swing. Although, I missed so many birdie and eagle putts by an inch or two it was ridiculous. Where is the wind?! Blow that ball in!

Unfortunately, there is no yellow area on tournament mode...but yeah, I'm waiting for the wind to blow the ball in too.

The putting is the only thing keeping me from buying the game this year. I have only been playing the demo, but the margin for error to the left or right when you press up to putt is crazy. I mean I'm missing 3 inch putts and stuff...lol

Doesnt seem like it's any better in the final build eh ?

I play on tournament difficulty and I had trouble getting the putting down last night. I played in the second AM tournament, forgot what it was called, but shot even par and won that. Now onto the Nationwide Tour.

IMO the putting is one of the better things in the game. It is hard just like in real life to read greens and judge the speed that is needed.
If you are missing 3inch putts left or right then maybe there is something wrong with your controller? Just a thought..

EDIT: Not sure if you are right handed or not, but I changed to the right analog stick for my shots and putts. Using the left analog stick just did not feel natural to me.
