No Playoff??

Tell me if im wrong, but how does EA not put a playoff in this game? I just finished tied at -2 at the players championship, and it just ends?
Seriously come on...
Thoughts?

There are several reasons for this which has been discussed in other threads and I can tell you right now this is not going to come in a patch. They recognize the need to get the playoff system in the game, but they also want to do it the right way and since they do not have the rights to every golfer's likeness to be presented in the game, the only playoff is done by the CPU. I hate it it as much as you or anyone else, but I also want them to implement it the right way instead of rushing it in to "check the box" so to speak. Remember how long it took for us to ge in-game saves and DLC included in Career Mode? It will come, but who knows when.

And like has been mentioned in other threads, there's nothing that seems to be stopping them from doing it the way it was done in past TW games, which was having the score pop up on screen and having to tie or beat that score. It's not the ideal solution, but it's certainly better than the one they have now, which is no playoff at all.

Thats exactly what Im saying.. Sure it will take awhile for them to do it right, but for now anything at all would be better than no playoff. I dont care if I dont get to see the player im playing swing at the ball, even just let me know where his ball went... Just having no playoff whatsoever is a bit of a joke..

Completely agree...the two tourneys I won in my first season - one which was a major - ended in a tie. Sure, it was nice to 'win', but it was still somewhat of a letdown knowing I wasn't the standalone winner.

Perfect example, I was playing The Players Championship, and I was dueling with Reteif Goosen the last 5 holes on Tour Pro. He birdied the last two hole to take a one stroke lead. I dropped one to about 12 feet on 18, hit a nice left to right putt, and I didn't want the trophy, I wanted to go heads up with the South African (I believe that's where he hails from), and hand him the loss!!! Made the trophy feel like a consolation prize.....but a win is a win!

Hehe...this is an understatement. Ever since Peter Moore (from Microsoft) showed up on the scene the games (all of them, Madden, Live, TW, NHL,) have not made the same or similar progress they made in last gen's same development cycle. I mean seriously, we're in something like the 8 year of development on the PS3 and XBOX 360 and we're still wiating for features/additions that last gen...they just now got around to in game saves....it's laughable when you think about it.

The sad truth is that EASports games that have competition make huge strides forward (Fifa, NHL, etc) while those franchises with little or no competition improve much slowly.

i was able to get a playoff during stroke and skins play in the training events leading up to the actual tournaments, which is elementary if they simply can't incorporate even a simmed cpu score in a head-to-head playoff. i haven't faced this issue yet because i've either won or lost straight up but if you tie does it always go to the user?

Yes. I tied for first and it gave me the win. So disappointing. I don't understand how they can implement it training modes but not in actually tourneys. Shame on you EA.

They can in Training and challenge modes because you are always playing against licensed golfers in which EA has the license to use their likeness in the game. EA does not have the licenses to have ALL golfers names represented as their likenesses in the game. However I do agree there has to be a better way of resolving ties than what they have now.
