AI Scoring levels, can we break this down, please?

    Hey guys,

I consider myself at least a competent TW player...and I LOVE playing Tournament Mode on TW12. But I'd like to at least make a cut here and there on the tour LOL. I'm averaging about a 78 per round so I don't get to see any Saturdays so far...

I have the AI level on 'Normal'....isn't that the 'easiest?' Otherwise, it's Low, Very Low, and Insane I think. Is 'Low' easier than 'Normal'?

Certainly not a gamebreaker or anything...I'm getting better at the game and I think I'll EVENTUALLY make cuts

BTW, I'm playing more conservatively off the tees now, not going 100% w/Big Dog, or using 3W instead. And also I'm listening to the caddy more for his funky percentage shots to get on the green near the flag. I usually call my own tee shots and fairway shots.

Normal is the 'easiest' setting. 'Insane' is the hardest. The 'Lows' describe how low the AI shoots.

LOL, I thought so. I just need to keep improving, and that's cool because I can see that I am. Wish I could have stayed on the AM or Nationwide Tours for a longer time rather than just being pushed into the PGA.

      Thanks MAB!

In other words, it goes (from easy to hard) like this:

Normal, low, very low, extremely low, insane
        Orbis Non Suficit

Just like last year once you get your overall power up to about 70 (ignore power boost) and accuracy to about 50 (raise both sliders equally) you'll get better and make cuts. Most importantly get the putting up as quick as you can to at least 50 overall (raise the 2nd and 3rd sliders the most) because the putting is way too funky below that but as you hit 60 or 70 overall range it becomes much more stable with your joystick and you are probably losing most strokes from sloppy putting.

Playing those Master moments is a quick way to boost your XP points as at least half of those are not too hard to get even on tourney mode which I used. I got lucky though and ended up holing out the Tiger chip on my 3rd or 4th try and got 6000 XP for mastering it which is double what you get for simply passing it. I also got really lucky with the Mickelsons shot as I got it with my 1st try within 7 feet after getting a lucky bounce off the river bank. Tried it like 10 more times afterwards to see how lucky I was and didn't come close with any of them.

THanks Seymour, I'll try those Masters Moments. I have been dumping my XP into putting (all four bars about equal) and it's getting better (slowly) lol. Putting is like 52 ovr right now but I'll keep at it. And you're right, I lose strokes on the green, not the tee or fairways (with the odd OB or hazard shots, which are realistic).

Whats's the overall consensus on what your create a player stats should be for all 4 categories to get realistic scoring against cpu AI scoring. Currently I am playing tour pro, low AI scoring which puts them from -2 to -5 for winner. My create a player current stats are all around 50% for all 4 categories; but still seems a bit off to equaling the better scores. Best round was at Island Classic and I tied for 6th at -2. All other tourneys I have shot over par. I have 2 tourney's left, with only one top 10, I am feeling the pressure to make 2 top 10's to get to Q school.

I do not want to get my guy's stats to high where I will be killing everyone once I get to tour.

Once you get to the PGA low is going to have the ai leaders shooting 6 - 8 under per round for what it's worth. You can change the score setting from round to round so you just need to find a combo that you are comfortable with.

Re: AI Scoring levels, can we break this down, please?

I played a lot this weekend and beefed up my putting to over 60, accuracy to over 50 (power right around 48-49). I'm finally seeing my scores dropping, and made two cuts LOL. Of course, Saturday and Sunday on both rounds I sucked because that pin placement gets really tough...but I did shoot my first even round finally.

Currently, after 22 rounds, my stats are:

                  Avg/rnd: 77.1 (was 79.7 last week)
                  Putting: 1.9 (instead of 2.1)
                  No eagles or better
                  Birdies: 90
                  Pars: 289

Birdies are tough to come by, I can't tell you how many I've missed with misreads or lipped off because I put too much on the putt.

I play through and take it like a man, and ONLY re-do a hole if I REALLY feel 'it was the game's fault', as in a mistake even I would not make on the course IRL or a shot so wank it just couldn't happen lol.

At least my days of putting back and forth and back and forth past the hole are mostly over Putting was really stressing me out when I first started playing LOL.

BTW, I DID try playing a few holes in a round on 'Tour Pro' difficulty and I did just as bad or worse, and hated all the crap on the screen pre-shot LOL. Putting meter didn't help much at all, still missed putts in much the same way, and I've just plain gotten USED to Tournament Mode, and the masochism that goes with it.

Re: AI Scoring levels, can we break this down, please?

I have had a few under par rounds now, in my 2nd pga tourney. I didn't have to do Q school, it skipped it? Is that because I had 2 top 10's in nationwide? Anyways I switched scoring back to normal for PGA season, more realistic scoring. My golfer is 60 power and mid 50's for every other category; working on getting putting up more, because still frustrating at times putts you miss. Also really work on getting course mastery if you use caddie, makes a difference.

Island Classic - I tied for 25th at -2 overall (Tiger won this tourney)
worldwide classic currently -3 going into weekend, leader at -9.

Man, nice work! I'm still working for my first under-par score (Tournament mode). It's a slow process, it really only takes one miserable hole (especially with putting or out of bounds/hazard) to kill a great round.

Okay, -3 going into weekend quickly turned into a final score 0f +5, my first experience of stupid pin placements, putting really impossible. I hope this is patched, or toned down atleast.

Sounds like EA is checking into the pin placement issue.

They didn't have playoffs in TW11, either...a dark mark on the best console golf game ever. Puzzling, yeah?

But if they resolve the pin placement for TW12, I'll be happy with that.
