Cobra Irons
Was just wondering if anyone here uses the Cobra S2 Forged Irons IRL. I have never hit a Cobra anything until this past week where we had a demo day at my course. I started with the S3 Irons and they felt great but felt similar to my Callaway X12 pro irons that I am currently hitting. I then tried the S2 Forged and it was instant love. They felt great, hit solid, and just gave me a warm fuzzy. I also tried out the Razr X tour irons by Callaway the day prior but those felt very head heavy. Would love to hear some oppinions from fellow golfers. Thanks!STEAM PROFILE: STEAM_0:1:39676753Tags: None -
Re: Cobra Irons
I use the X-20's and they are great. Great striking and the feel is very nice.
Anyways I haven't tried any of the Cobra's.Joshua:

Re: Cobra Irons
I bought the Cobra S2 Forged last year (5I thru PW). I really like them. I don't think they really caught on as I didn't even see them reviewed in Golf Digest "Hot List" last year where they review almost everything. And they were somewhat expensive as new clubs last year (probably cheaper now).
But I really liked them. They have a little less offset than a "game improvment" iron (which is what I wanted as my miss is usually a hook with irons). Yet I think they are marketed as more of a game improvment club than your standard forged club.
Overall, I'm very happy with them. When you hit them flush it feels great. I like the forged feel. I'm a 7 handicap as reference so not a great player but not the worst either. I'd say if you are a slicer and want a game improvement iron then maybe shy away but if you have an average or decent game then I'd recommend them (especially if you can get them at a good price).
Plus they look sharp!Comment

Re: Cobra Irons
The Cobra brand is one of those often played by tour players but not by John-Q-Public. It has been years since I hit a Cobra brand product. I compare Cobra with Ping. Both have a high price tag so the average golfer stays away. I play Ping products and can tell you if you hit the ball well then they are the best clubs you will ever play. I purchased my I3 irons in 2003. I demoed Cobra, Calloway, & Taylor Made. I ruled out the Calloway and Taylor Made irons very quickly. I liked the feel of the Cobra irons but I went with the Pings due to the Ping dot system. I was able to find a iron set that fit my game. My friend that was with me that day ended up purchasing the cobra irons. He lowed his score by 5 strokes the first round out.
Every club is not for everyone. You need to find a club you hit well, feels good, and fits your game. If the Cobra worked for you then I would go with it. I hate Calloway products and Taylor Made drives but they are very popular products. I coach high school golf and tell my golfers, when asked, to hit a lot of different clubs before purchasing. If a club does not feel good then put it away until you are down to the 2 models you hit best. Then hit each club 30 times and you will know which one to purchase. If you feel they are both equal then pick the one you want.Relax, it's just a video game!Comment

Re: Cobra Irons
Irons: Callaway X20
Driver: TaylorMade R7
Wedges: Cobra and Cleveland
So yeah all clubs feel and play differently per user. I couldn't stand the Callaway drivers but love the X20's irons.Joshua:
