    Online Tourneys...WTF

I got online to play in a tourney today, and right off the bat I asked myself, "what the he'll am I doing??" because every tournament had it's top 50+ players with like -25 below par!!! How in the he'll is this even possible?? Are they cheating somehow? I mean, the pros in REAL LIFE can't even do this!!

This, in my opinion, is what's wrong with online sports games anymore....you get these super-jock-nerds who spend every waking hour trying to get to the top, and then they all just one-up each other until the tournaments aren't even fun to play anymore....I mean come on, -25???? BS......

    Re: Online Tourneys...WTF

There are a couple things that play a role in the low scores...

    1. A completely maxed out character... 100% on everything...
    2. Usage of an aftermarket controller that hits str8 all the time with little effort.
    3. The guys at the top have been playing Tiger for years and have been posting scores like that for a long time to come.

Most courses -22 is in reality par.... Birdie every par 3 and par 4 - Eagle every par 5. That will get you to -22. Then Eagle all reachable par 4's goes lower with a shot or two from the fairway sinking. That is the level some play the game. Every online game no matter what has a certain low % of players that will play at its highest level. That is the reality of online video gaming.

I get your point, and it makes sense, but how are normal guys like me supposed to get anything out of these tournaments? We will never win!

And where do I get one of these said controllers you mention??

The controller issue is easy... Gamestop or eb games or any purveyor of used gaming equipment. Aftermarket controllers like a mad catz have stiffer analog sticks that allow for easier swinging. The nice side is for 10 bucks one can be yours... The down side is that it may take a couple tries to find one that is spot on. If you can find one with a turbo option, you can take advantage of amateur and pro settings better. It is a hunt and find solution.

On the competing front... You get money in an online tourney for placing a score most of the time. Set your goals for a specific score or place... Not for winning. As you get better, set your goals higher. Everybody cannot be #1. Play the play the pros tourneys as well. You simply have to beat the real life guys and get a ton of prize money for the effort. If you have the downloaded courses, the pool of players in those tourneys are smaller and you can get more cash for the effort.....

There are around 20 guys who are elite at this game... They will hole. Out 3 to 4 shots per round and that is the way it is. Set your goal to the perfect round level and you can place in the top 100 or even top 50 consistently.

Try playing Live Tournaments in Tournament difficulty and I think you will find the scores far more realistic, but still too low to be compared to a normal PGA TOUR event. My average score in TOUR Pro in TW11 was in the high 50's and in TW12 playing TOURNAMENT mode, my average score is 65.3, so TW12 has upped the ante in gameplay challenge over TW11 for me personally....

Very True Divot... a simple -4 can net you a top 50. You play for par and get an easy birdie on a par 5 here or there and you are in the good money for the Tourney.

Compete with friends and not anonymous guys on the internet and you will have fun. I'm never going to do what they do to get that good, becasue it would ruin the game for me.

You just have to ignore the overall leaderboards for most any game. As long as you can compare your score to friends, then who cares what some cheater does. If that's how he enjoys the game, then he can have at it.

I'm liking this game less and less as I read about it.
