    Career mode info released

Posted today by a dev on the EA site:

"I’ve noticed a lot of questions about the career mode so here is a quick overview of some of the updates for Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13. It's called "The Road to the PGA TOUR." When you first start your career, you pick from 3 different Amateur Tours – America Amateur Tour, United Kingdom Amateur Tour, or the World Amateur Tour. If you win the Amateur Championship, you will earn an invitation to play at the Masters as an amateur golfer. Based on how well you play at the Masters, you might even earn amateur exemptions to play more tournaments on the PGA TOUR or get an invitation to join the Nationwide Tour. The Nationwide Tour has also been updated and you can earn your PGA TOUR card three different ways. The first is to earn the “Battlefield Promotion.” That is when you win three Nationwide Tour events in a single year. Second, finish the season with an average top 25 finishing position. Third, enter Q-School after the Nationwide Tour season is complete. You might even have to play through a second year of the Nationwide Tour if you don’t earn your card.

Your goal in Road to the PGA TOUR will first be to earn your PGA TOUR card. Once you make it to the PGA TOUR, you’ll need to play well and work your way up the EA SPORTS Golf Rankings to qualify for the Masters and compete to win the coveted Green Jacket. After battling Tiger Woods himself for the #1 spot in the EA SPORTS Golf Rankings, see if you can maintain that rank for a record 281 weeks.

This year you can also substitute in courses that you have unlimited play on. So for example, if you do not own PGA National to play the Honda Classic, then you can sub in any course that you do currently have unlimited play on. Remember that you can earn unlimited play on a DLC course by completing all of its course mastery objectives or purchasing the DLC course with Microsoft Points or Coins on PS3.

You will still unlock Pro Shop items by playing in Sponsor Challenges and completing Sponsor Objectives. All sponsor objectives have been updated this year. We also have a trophy room to track your wins throughout your career.

I know a lot of people have been asking for this too, each year of the PGA TOUR, the courses will change on the majors and other minor events. Some events like the Players Championship and the Masters will always be played on the correct course.

Here are some of the official tournaments on the PGA TOUR calendar.
    - Farmers Insurance Open
    - Waste Management Phoenix Open
    - AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am
    - The Honda Classic
    - The Masters
    - Valero Texas Open
    - THE PLAYERS Championship
    - The Greenbrier Classic
    - The Barclays
    - BMW Championship
    - TOUR Championship

One week away until EA SPORTS Season Ticket holders can download the game! See you online soon!"

Sounds like a definate improvement when you start your amateur career but it sounds like substituting courses is still somewhat limited in that you can only do it if you don't have all the DLC courses but at least people who don't buy all the DLC won't have to skip events and the rotating courses for the majors is a nice touch.

Unfortunately there is no playoffs again this year as confirmed by another dev and I don't think you can play as a PGA pro or alongside one.

    Re: Career mode info released

A dev just informed me that the schedule IS fully customizable for most of the events, with just a few exceptions like the Master and Player Championship and maybe a couple of others. Even if you already have the course for an event you can change it to another course for the majority of events. That is something I really wanted last year so good to see. The PGA season is 10 years again but unfortunately there are no season stats in career with the other AI golfers.

Damnit Dan.... You beat me to it... I just copied all that and ran over here...then see your post up....

Some better options for sure, but not complete. If the swing mechanic is tougher, this could be a fun time. My issue with it last year was it was way too easy unless you stuck it on extreme scores and then it was a bit too rediculous... no happy medium...

I enjoyed playing through last year's Career Mode, and while this one sounds pretty similar, I'll still spend most of my time in this mode. We desperately need a Match Play event somewhere in the season, and it would be nice to be able to play in the Ryder Cup at the end of the season. I'm really happy to see the courses change for some of the events every season though. That's a plus! In my opinion, they really need to put their main focus on Career Mode for TW14. They need to blow it out and make it the main selling point. The gameplay is just fine!!
