    TW13.. Kinect or Move?

Okay, I've decided to get TW 13. I just don't know what version to get.. 360 or PS3? I don't have Kinect or the Move but would like to get it for this game..

Any opinions on which plays a better or a more fun game of Tiger Woods golf? The Move or Kinect? Is one more seemless than the other.. as in easier to change clubs, aim, etc. If they are pretty much the same, I might just go with the Move since it's a bit cheaper..

    Thanks for any input fellas.

I haven't tried this year's demo with Move (I really should, I have two Move controllers) but I have tried the Kinect demo and I wasn't as impressed as I wanted to be.

I found the actual swinging to be fine (though when putting, it was incredibly difficult to judge the amount of power you were applying to your shot) but aiming and choosing a club I found to be exceptionally clunky & often just flat out didn't work when I was using it.

I'm hoping that will be improved significantly when the final version comes out but right now, I'm not optimistic about using Kinect for Tiger Woods 13.

I'm curious about the differences also. I'm interested in the game from a pure swing simulator aspect.

Im still trying to decide myself. The Kinect version on the season pass version is much less clunky than on the demo. Its also easier to use in conjunction with the controller on the season pass version. I do well using the Kinect on pro default settings. With the move, ive only been able to play the demo as I dont have season pass on ps3, and dont want to pay for it at this point. But I was doing horrible with the move on pro default, but im not a real life golfer. I had most trouble with short shots and putting. I moved the swing difficulty down one to amateur I think it was called and did a lot better. I was hitting around par then. So now I really dont know what to do. Playing as Tiger, I should be able to do pretty well. As of last night I was leaning to the Kinect, but I am going to give the move another go later tonight hopefully.

Well, I wanted the $10 Amazon credit (haha) so I took a chance and pre-ordered the 360 Collector's Edition today. I hope to get the Kinect soon too.. it looks like it's on sale for $99 at BestBuy right now. I'm looking forward to it. I liked the idea of the Kinect b/c it's just one peripheral. Less things to have to charge.. I also like the idea that I can use my real putter with the Kinect. Well, I think I can.. we'll see how that goes. I'm thinking of making a golf type grip for driving/iron play too.. good times.

Glad you decided, Im still having trouble making my decision. Im gonna miss out on the $10. Looks like more people will be playing on Xbox and Kinect which attracts me to the xbox version. Sure wish there were a place to find more people's comparison's on the two.

One thing I noticed in playing again last night. I think I figured out why the Kinect is so much easier. It automatically adjusts swing percentage based on the marker, while the move does not. I have to put the move on easy to stay competitive, and it seems like it is not as consistent or maybe its me not consistent in my swings, but again I havent had much practice. Its kind of like this for me as of right now: Move = more realistic, easier to aim without controller and I suck especially putting (just cant get the feel for it), Kinect = less realistic, hard to aim without controller (so I use controller to aim) but fun.

croc, yeah i'm a little worried about the lack of difficulty with the Kinect.. but I'm assuming things get pretty tough once you up the difficulty. I've seen a video from EA using the Kinect where on the hardest difficulty looks at your hand position and can tell when you draw and fade shots.. or hook and slice . I slightly prefer my 360 to my PS3 for gaming for some reason so that helped me make my decision. I'm not sure why the Move and Kinect are so different. I really thought they would play identical.

Thanks, thats good to know, I can just up the difficulty for the Kinect to make it more of a challenge.

Just noticed you are from Louisiana too.

                  Re: TW13.. Kinect or Move?

Just as a tidbit that I learned over on the EA forums from one of the mods. One difference between the two versions is that there is no strike meter for the Kinect version. For example, if your ball is in the rough and you want to strike the ball lower to lift the ball up, that feature was removed from the Kinect version but included in the Move version.

EAcom Golf Tim says "According to the Devs, there were issues with the features for this version of Tiger, so the strike meter was not included. You do have to allow for rough and sand by viewing the lie by crouching down. Not doing so and not allowing for bad lies will result in a bad shot result. I have had blasts out of the bunker go very short and long by not looking to see if the ball was plugged or simply sitting on the sand. I have also hit flyer lies out of rough, and mi**** approach shots by not taking rough into account and how much grass is surrounding the ball. Now I look at the lie on every shot that is not on the tee."

So you can take that into account for choosing which version you want.

Hopefully not a silly question, but do you need to have a great golf swing to be able to do well with a Kinect or Move? I want to get a Move to play with this game so that I can "wake up" and get the blood rushing when I play at night after work.

I know it won't be easy, but will a basic mimicking of a golf swing allow me to do well?

I played the PS3 demo with the Move, and both the demo and the early release with the Kinect. My original thoughts with both demos left me leaning more towards the Move. The difference between using the controller and the Move felt minimal (if anything at all). The Move constantly pointed out my swing flaws on Tour Pro & higher, and I felt like I had more control over my swing. With the Kinect, I felt like there was great potential in the demo. While there were certain aspects missing (the Swing meter, the lack of viewing the lie when crouching), I had a good feeling that the actual swing mechanics were on the right track. With the early release, a couple of the bugs that I originally noticed were corrected (green speeds, viewing the lie, etc). I was disappointed to learn about the lack of the swing meter, but am able to adjust my game to compensate for bad lies.

Honestly, I believe I would still lean towards the Move. I feel like, with an extra year under their belt, the Move's swing mechanics are slightly better. I have more control over my shot. My poor swing is accurately captured. I believe the Kinect has tremendous up-side, but isn't quite there yet (when compared to the Move). The only reason why I went with the 360's version is because I have more friends on my Xbox that will play the game than on the PS3.

Believe me, I have a horrible swing. I saw the flaws in both games (more on the Move, though). As long as you stick to lower levels (Pro or Amateur), a poor swing will be acceptable. If nothing else, you can customize your level to use Tour Pro or higher as a base difficulty level and turn down the Swing difficulty to Normal.

Thanks very much for your thoughts. I'll probably order a Move bundle today and give it a shot.

Well went to walmart last night, no TW 13. Ordered pizza, no big box special, no pan crust, no breadsticks, no cinnimon sticks. What a night. So here I am again wondering if I should get move or kinect. Played move demo again last night, and got frustrated again. I want to like it because seems it would be more realistic than kinect, but so far im just frustrated. I get swing perfect and it still goes long or short on short shots and putting. Is the final version any better than the demo??

Is the short game any better on the Move this year? That and putting were very sub-par last year.
