I've not bought TW in years and I think this is the year I get off the tee. Having said that, which game has the better presentation? After playing the retail of 12 and the demo of 13 I can't quite tell. Graphics look better in 13, but the demo stutters on putts. Is the commentary the same? What about crowd noise...is that feature still in when you can hear the gallery responding to a good shot on another hole? Is it true that 13 removed replay saves and dynamic camera angles? Thanks for the responses in advance.

Overall, I think the presentation is pretty lack luster.
-The putting still stutters (360)
-No replay saves or even a highlight reel at the end of your round. If you want to see a replay you must do it immediately
-Commentators hardly speak and half the time when they do it sounds out of character for a televised golf broadcast.
-TV presentation is nonexistant
-Crowds look like dead weights dotted around the course - even when a ball hits them in the head. I tend ot turn them off when not in a tournament.
-Vocaly crowds react pretty well to your golfer but I have yet to hear a roar from 18 when I am on 17. I don't think the game is really modeling a live tournament or at least you never get that feel. It basically just feels you are playing against a leaderboard.
-During tournaments (at least the online ones) you cannot even look at your scorecard. You get a full leaderboard or truncated leaderboard. Very annoying you cannot see your hole by hole scorecard in tournaments.
The transitions in this game are embarrasingly thin. I understand that a lot of this is done to speed gameplay but I would much rather it be an option. Like in MLB you can have a fast play game if you like or if you like you can turn on all the TV style presentation and feel more emotionaly attached to the experience.
-Hole intro. You can do a flyby in the menu for each hole but you have to dig for it. No option to enable a flyby or even hole overview as part of the default presentation at the start of each hole. Just the EA Golf Ball swip and you are standing on the tee box - is it a dog leg? is it a par3? Very disjointed and you never feel like you are at a 'course'.
-Hole out. Occasionally you will see your player pick his ball out of the cup but more often than not you will sink a putt and the screen focus/defocus on some static course image like a bench or wall. No cool replays. Little to no emotion from yoru player character.
-At the turn and end of game. Nothing. Hole 3 is the same as hole 9 is the same as 18. Half the time you don't even know what hole you are on. No highlight reel or recap. No drama. (not that I am endorsing the gimmicky 'heartbeat' that TW once tried to incorrporate as drama).
Menus are probably one of the better parts of the user experience. Very clean and easy to navigate although there is some unwarranted delay in spots and far too many 'saving' screens in CAG mode. I personally applaude the standard, up front approach to the menus. Far too often developers try to make cool menus or adopt odd naviation mechanics forgetting the main point of a menu is that it should be so quick and simple you forget its there. TW does well with this. The generally clean, stylish loook is only marred by red "new" flags stuck all over items. Hopefully these go away in time because they really distract from the otherwise pleasing asthetics. Like I said, I have not owned a TW game ever so to me everything is "new" to me. Pushing 'new' items and notifications is a very annoying marketing tactic that players should be able to enable/disable by choice.Last edited by lnin0; 03-29-2012, 11:38 AM. -

13 is the first TW game I have purchased ever but I have rented some of the past editions but not 12.

Re: Presentation in 13 vs 12(?)
Overall I really like the gameplay but the presentation does not pull me in. Again, the best word I have for it is disjointed. Even compared to other series it seems like a lot of the typical 'golf' presentation stuff is missing let alone the type of broadcast presentation that would capare to a NFL, NBA or MLB title.Comment

Re: Presentation in 13 vs 12(?)
Myabe I have not gotten far enough into the CAG mode - I am not in the PGA yet - but I do not feel like I am watching a match on TV. I did play a round of an online tournament and it had little presetation as well. Maybe once I get to the PGA in CAG there will be more??

Re: Presentation in 13 vs 12(?)
Presentation is sorely lacking in this game, and I'm (a) a fanboi of the game in pretty much every other respect and (b) a guy who disables commentary and replays in most sports games.
The lack of your scorecard in online tourneys HAS to be a bug since there is a scorecard link in the pause menu, it just takes you to the same place as the leaderboard link right now.
I REALLY miss the scoring recap per hole that 12 had. In cm and online you could see how many birdies, pars, bogeys etc were made before you teed off. I dont miss the hole commentary as much since it was often attached to the wrong hole (I seem to recall in 12 that Waialei didnt have one commentary that made sense for the hole it was assigned to).
I'm quite irked I cant make the NEW marker go away from the ad for season pass. I'm almost ocd enough to buy the damn thing to see if that works!
Also, as someone mentioned, some menus are real slow. I almost left my country club due to a case of A button mashing as the menu seemingly failed to load.
None of it is game ruining for me. In fact, I would choose this year's spartan approach over 12's ceaseless chatter and caddy "words of wisdom" 100 times out of 100. But I can see it being a letdown for some. Now playing
