    anybody enjoy 12 better?

I have played both demos and can clearly point out some differences like the new swinging and slightly updated graphics, with the addition of the legacy mode, but in terms of gameplay, does anybody like 12 better? I seem to just by the demo, I am not sure why, but I like the look of the graphics better and the swinging.

So far, from the bit that I've played 13, I much prefer it to 12. Not that 12 was a bad game by any stretch but I feel like 13 is a significant improvement to the core gameplay and the visuals.

12's visual style was nice but I feel like 13 looks significantly more realistic. The colours in 12 looks a little too vibrant to me, especially when playing Augusta. It was just a bit too over the top & didn't really look realistic.

12 was a huge disappointment for me. I'm really enjoying 13. There's a lot more to the swing mechanics in 13 which for me has made a deeper and more enjoyable experience.

I'm not ready to pound the gavel on this decision yet, but so far I'm giving the edge to 13 with the new mechanics and difficulty, and you have to think more.

Visually, I'm kinda split right now..but I guess 13 does seem more realistic. Patch that 'putt stutter' and we'll be golden.

Carnival pin placements on Sundays killed 12 for me. 13 could have been the exact same and corrected Sunday pin placements and I would have said it was miles better. Fortunately I am enjoying the new swing mechanics, removed caddy feature and general increase in difficulty. The lighting and color pallet is a nice improvement as well. For me, 13 so far has been a huge success.

            Re: anybody enjoy 12 better?

After a few days of playing, TW13 blows away TW12 in almost every aspect. This new swing is really growing on me and is the best innovation they have ever done in the series (sorry TW11 but your true aim has now been bumped to 2nd).

With the Move it is excellent but even the controller version has become really enjoyable and I find myself playing with that more than I thought (and the fact that I have a sore back so I'm taking a break from the Move right now).

I don't find the shot stick too forgiving now because in order to get a longer distance shot you have to push forward quickly and it goes offline alot. I also have my accuracy at minimum so that helps too.

The short game is so much better, everything is by feel and the animations are better. When you have a delicate chip and hit it close to the pin, it feels so rewarding and something that I never felt with prior TW games. I know people hated the putting at the start (including me) but now I find more that enjoyable because the speed and follow thru really matters and it really feels more intuitive now.

TW13 has a certain delicacy to the game that makes it very simlike and the graphics is a definate upgrade over TW12 and it really immerses you into the game.

The only thing I don't like is career mode is still pretty dry. If TW14 has the much needed career overhaul combined with this shot mechanic and graphics, it's gonna be almost a perfect game.

Don't go by the demo too much. If you are a video golf game player then you are doing yourself a disservice by not getting TW13.

              Loving 13. Tiger 12 doesn't compare to 13 IMO.

As for the carnival pins, it doesn't look like it's entirely gone. As soon as I opened the game I played St Andrews (which is usually one of the worst offenders) on expert pins and there was a couple of questionable placements that bordered on cartoonish. I forgot to put the greens on fast or tourney and had it on average but there was one hole (I think it was the 11th) where it was on a slope and I barely missed the putt and it rolled slightly back into the hole. Don't know how far it would have rolled back if the hole wasn't there or if the greens were faster.

That was the one I remember the most as other holes were questionable but not as extreme as the 11th hole. Last year St Andrews has at least 3 holes that were just goofy so at least there's an improvement there.

Haven't found any others yet but I haven't really played that much on expert pins to see.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I too have gone back to the controller in Tournament/Expert mode since Kinect has some issues that need addressing. So glad to see you are enjoying the game and I agree with you on a badly needed CM update for 14....I will be hammering the Devs to do something.

Divot, sidebar to 14 for a sec in CM...

Most of us can understand that devs might be hitting the barrier for current gen resources, which prevents visible partners, bigger galleries, etc. But even just a little step of putting the distant cheers/ahhhs of other players doing something significant with a ticker showing it was a surprisingly immersive bit of presentation in the game (can't recall if that was TW10 or 11).

I think we'll be doing one more iteration of TW on these consoles before the nextgen drops, so here's hoping they'll keep moving in the right direction and maybe shoehorn in a bone or two for the CM folk like us

                      Re: anybody enjoy 12 better?

11 and 12 are both games that until Monday I played regularly, 12 more so than 11 but I still go back to 11 for some things (mainly, much harder and much more thoughtful gameplay).

I think 13 is an incredible blend of the challenge of 11 with the features of 12 (such as course mastery) as well as some newer ideas that EA is introducing across many of their sports games (country club, to me, is very similar to ridernet from SSX and the support your club feature from FIFA). I love that most of the features that many critics call out as "dumbing down" the game are entirely optional, such as boost pins, the caddy, etc in this version. To be able to play with a less (or more ;-) skilled player and even the field with house rules such that the lesser player can use pins or the caddy, to me, is great.

And the new stuff is tremendous. The graphics are so superior to any prior version. The new swing is great. The country club I'm in is very active and offers a lot of enjoyment. I love that online tourneys can be customized to the point that you can specify the exact pro golfer that can be used. I love that I can play DLC courses to try them out before buying and potentially even permanently unlock them just through play with no additional out of pocket expense.

There was nothing really wrong with 12 except the relative difficulty (the caddy really did make it very easy especially in windy conditions), but after playing 13 there is no comparison. 13 to me is in a league of its own.

12 = equaled crazy pin placements - frustrating to say the least. 13 is much improved. New swing mechanic im digging in 13. Customizing schedule with courses you want to play in RTM is nice addition as well. Now I never have to play insane fantasy courses.

I think it was initially disappointed with the dumbing down even further from TW 12 but although they still didn't include true aim from TW 11 there is a thinking aspect to TW13 just in a more organic sense. The shot stick is more sensitive so when you're in between clubs you feel more connected as to whether you want to hit a strong 7 iron or a weak 6 iron. You don't need to do the math but you still have to strategize.

Divot, keep hammering the devs about a career mode overhaul (and dont forget playoff holes ) I get the impression that the devs don't feel the career mode is that important for gamers which I disagree with. Bringing back the score ticker and a full array of season stats is a good start. Since they got the swing down pat now they should have more time to make career more immersive for TW14 and hopefully bring back true aim.

One unexpected improvement that they did make was putting in the rain. I played Pebble Beach in the rain and the greens were about 10% to 20% slower and not 50% slower like last year where it felt like you were putting in mud.

Yes hell has officially frozen over. I can admit when I'm wrong and I have to admit that the devs exceeded my expectations with the new swing. The rough play is especially fun. I'm finding it pretty tough to hold my strike meter in place and try to get a good swing in at the same time .

One thing I don't really get yet is hitting draws and fades. I can change my stance appropriately, but do I need to change my swing path with the controller as well.
