Career Mode the way to go?

I haven't played a TW game in years and am just about to start with 13. Is Career mode where the money is at for TW 13? A lot of replay and closest thing to a franchise mode for a golf game?

Career mode is definitely the area that has the most replay value, since you start with a created golfer and have to build up their skills while progressing from the amateur ranks up to the PGA Tour.

It's also where you unlock equipment for your created golfer and it's also a great place to earn coins for purchasing pins or rounds at the DLC courses.

Career mode is where I spend most of my time, since it is the deepest mode in the game.

Career mode is OK at best, it needs an overhaul since it's pretty much the same as last year and is just too bare bones. No playoffs, no AI pro beside you, stale commentary and no real season stats for the tour that should be a given in any sports game bring it down a few notches.

It's not bad but it could be so much better and that should be a priority for the Devs for TW14 because it's long overdue. If you simply like to play tournaments against an AI spreadsheet and don't need the extra bells and whistles then it should keep you busy for awhile.

Two words... Country Club.... This feature makes playing any round rewarding... Play career, Live tournies, CC Tourneys, Head to Head... Play a round, get status, watch your CC rise up the ranks... This has so far been the most addictive feature in any video game for me... ever... I literally check my CC 25 times a day at work to see who is playing and earning Status (or better yet who is not!!!), and how we are progressing.. It is effecting my work a little at this point.... As silly as I thought "Pins" were, it is another thing I am working to get.. I want all the stupid little pins for every hole on every course in gold... Silly I know, but damn, Im an addict...

This is the first time ever in Tiger since the introduction of Online play, that offline does not feel like a grind to get Maxed Out... I am content to play rounds with a guy in the 70's and max it out through the course of playing at leisure..... That was a huge improvement...

career mode has been fun this year, and a challenge as long as you max out opponent strength... I no longer win every tourney, and in some cases haven't qualified for a few due to not being ranked high enough... Takes time, but has been fun gaining the skill...
If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.

I am just like you, constantly checking, seeing how are guys are fairing, who is playing, how much we have to go for a next level, who has moved ahead, who are we coming up on...

My team fluctuates between 3rd and 5th on the PS3 (The Putt Pirates), the good thing is, the owner has put together a group that right now the novelty hasn't wore off, and everyone is getting several rounds in a day... With the group we have, this appears it will continue...

If you get into a Country Club you care about, it's a LOT of fun. I'm in the Penny Arcade country club, and I'm hooked. I care more about those tournaments than I do the career mode.

It's just bizarre to me that they don't have AI pros playing alongside with you in tournaments. Games in the 1980s had that option.

This would drive me nuts... Way too long to complete the round... As long as it was an option, I would be fine with it... If it forced you... I would pull my hair out... I could tolerate the lines like simultaneous play and that would be it... to each his own...

There were computer golf games in the 1980s? I'm 34, which means I had my first Atari at 8 or 9, which was the mid-80s and the first game I played was stick-figure baseball.

Are you sure you don't mean mid-90s when Sega was big?

I completely agree... I get ticked of those games and want to kick myself repeatedly, where I play online and do not read the game specs, to find out when in game it is alternate shot, not simultaneous... If an option, great for those who would want it, but it would never see the light of day on my system... I would watch the golf channel if I wanted to watch a golfer, I am just trying to beat them on the PS3, watching and being forced to watch would mean this game finds it way to the dustpile rather quickly if I hadn't placed a hose from the garage to the family room, with the engine of my car running first...

I'm 32, and I had my NES in 1985 at the age of 5. The first Atari was out in the 70's.

Also, the Sega Master System was out in the mid 80s.

Play a few skills challenges in the career mode and you will see that when they do put you next to an ai golfer there is zero balance. So they need to have someone playing alongside you that doesn't birdie/eagle every single hole. Apparently we are still a long way from that.
