Online scores
I see several players shooting scores like -40 for four rounds, is this normal for online play?Tags: None -
-40 for four rounds 9 hole, that's the low end. For the good players it's more like 45+.Comment

Re: Online scores
this is stupid, in my CC there's a tournament (not even easiest settings, no caddy etc) yet there's scores of -77 for 4 rounds? how is this possible?Comment

Re: Online scores
I forget if it was on here or the EA forums, but I saw a thread where people were complaining that it was too hard to hole out consistently from the fairway. That's just how some people like to play the game.Comment

Re: Online scores
Is ball spin turned on? Some people have become "experts" at getting almost every shot close to the pin or holing out thanks to ball spin. Turns the game into an arcade game, in my opinion. Look for a CC where people are interested in "sim" golf. In other words, it's as close to possible as real life golf.

Now there's a guy that shot -83 in 4 rounds.
Yes need to find a SIM tourney instead of this arcade stuff.Comment

Re: Online scores
There's your answer. Are you on XBOX or PS3? There are a few solid CCs that have threads in here that are competitive with sim settings.Comment

Re: Online scores
I like a challenge, somewhere leaning towards SIM but with a bit of arcade mixed in. I don't want to double bogey every hole yet i don't want to eagle every hole either, just need to find the right mix for my skill level. My current created golfer is like level 33 i think, I've been trying to level up asap.Comment

Re: Online scores
People have always found ways to put up crazy scores even in the most difficult conditions with harder difficulty. In TW11 and 12 people were still putting up -23 on the hardest difficulty with gusty winds and lightning fast greens. I see how people do it on the easier levels with putt preview, but no idea how they can deal with those course conditions.Go Sabres!Comment

I don't get how they get around the variability.Go Sabres!Comment

Re: Online scores
I'm sure, but even then I'm not sure how they deal with 15+ mph wind gusts on fast greens. You just can't dial in every approach shot in those conditions. When the conditions get tough enough, hitting it straight isn't enough.

Re: Online scores
People probably use the boost pins for wind and such
I have only used the XP pin. I haven't used any pins that help performance. I would rather play regularly and figure out what I need to improve and if I get bad scores then so be it.PSN: PanicshadeLWK

Re: Online scores
i have used the calm wind boost pin but it doesn't to do anything. The winds still seem really high.Comment

Re: Online scores
There has yet to be a sports game made that can't be exploited online and I venture to say there will probably never be one made in our lifetime. It's just the nature of gaming.
There are many people who are really driven to be the best at it, which is also aided by having no life. They will do mathematical calculations of every possible wind setting for every inch of a course with every possible slope and jot this all down. Sounds impossible but people will mark down a gazillion points on thier controller on how far back to swing, look at their notebook and swing away. There are people that obsessive and it probably takes them 2 hours to play a round but they do it. The fact that keeping the swing straight is easier than last year and green speed is pretty much the same from slow to fast just gives them less stuff to write down.
Many devs concentrate way too much time to try and make thier sports game cheese proof and neglect other aspects and for the gamers who think the "next version" will be perfect online are just fooling themselves. Not gonna happen.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 04-04-2012, 06:33 PM.Comment
