    Best AI setting ?

What is the most realistic setting for the AI players when you go on the nationwide or PGA tours ?

I don't want scores of -20 for a round etc.

Also can you change the setting mid season ?

I've yet to figure out which I like best, but right now I'm leaning toward Hard. Not sure how that'll play out on the PGA Tour as I'm on the Nationwide right now.

You can change the setting mid-season, but not while you're in the middle of an event.

I play three round tourneys in Career Mode and am on the PGA Tour, using Tour Pro difficulty.

To me, the AI scores on 'Normal' are not low enough (-3 to -5 per round) and the scores for 'Hard' are too low (-8 to -12 per round).

I wish there was a happy medium between the two. -5 to -8 per round would be perfect for me.

LOL, that always seems to be the case. It's like 'The Three Bears' without the 'just right' bed or porridge.

I play on 360, Tour Pro, Normal AI (so far). Just started the PGA tour and Els Club kicked my *** first round LOL.

That's what I was thinking, but I haven't gotten to the PGA Tour yet because I've been playing online so much.

I just made it to the PGA Tour earlier today and played the first round at Dubai. I shot -4 and I'm tied for 38th and 6 strokes out of the lead. I'm going to have to see how the rest of this tourney plays out, but I may have to knock it back down to Normal if the scoring gets too out of hand in the PGA.

-10 first round seems a bit out of hand, at least for me. I'm looking for realistic scores. Maybe -10 by the leader would be believable, but having 37 players shoot -5 or better isn't really realistic.

I finished the tournament with -7 and in 53rd place. I was hoping the scores would lower a bit as I went along, but they didn't. Most of the top guys were in the mid to high -20's. I promptly changed the difficulty once the tournament was done. It would be impossible for me to compete on that setting and like you said, the scores aren't very realistic. I'll just roll with normal and see what my results are. Whatever it is, it's definitely going to be better than those inflated scores.

I just finished playing the U.S. Op....uh, I mean United States Golf Championship last night at Crooked Stick on Tour Pro difficulty with AI scores turned to 'Normal'. I won the event by four shots; I shot -18 and Tiger was second with -14.

I play three round tourneys, and had accumulated a seven- or eight-shot lead at one point. A couple bogeys in the final round made it closer than it should have been.

If I had played on 'Hard' AI scoring, I bet -18 would not even have gotten me into the top 10.

If some of you are finding that the gap between normal and hard to be too wide then just take away some aids or move up a difficulty level. Make it harder to score low rather than trying to figure out the perfect AI setting. Seems like it would a lot less hassle to me.

That's a good point...I think my next thing to turn off will be the caddy. I wanted to use it until I got the new mechanic down and got my CAG's stats to a respectable level.

I think that should lower my scores and will make 'Normal' AI scoring pretty difficult.

Agreed....I'm thinking about turning off the caddy as well (mainly just use on approach shots and putts).

I am constantly playing with difficulty and AI settings to find a perfect balance of realistic scoring and leaderboards. Normal AI difficulty produces the most realistic leaderboards for sure. The nice thing is you can tweak the aids and swing difficulty from round to round (or even mid-round) to compensate your scoring relative to the leaderboard. It would be nice to find a perfectly balanced setting and leave it there, but I haven't found one yet.

I like to setup 2 round tournaments, then sim the first round to put me in a random position on the leaderboard. Based on that, I'll play the final round with settings that will make it challenging, but not impossible, to be in the mix down the stretch.
