Guess what I got for Father's Day: Questions from a Noob

    1. Country Clubs - Can I just join one? What are the expectations, responsbilities? I can't play a lot (married, 4 kids), but I am curious as to how the Country Club feature enhances gameplay.

    2. Pins/Coins/XP - I am totally befuddled by all of this. I assumed they were the same things, but that appears not to be the case. Can anyone offer help?

    Thanks in advance

    1. countryclubs are a TON of fun... they allow you to play tournies against "guys you know" - even if you don't really know them... like there's this guy panicshade in my country club, and the two of us are seemingly always within a stroke of one another - it's a great rivalry - and i think i am going to make him play Bethpage like 10 rounds in a row to see if I can get him to explode...

the biggest "reward" it gives you is extra "coins" each week... but i guess i'll have to explain what that means...

(and yes, you can "just join one!" - no REAL expectations...)

    2. XP you get for each round/hole you play. you use these to make your golfer better - once you get enough you can "add" to your skills (for example, buy an extra "power" point...)

PINS are something i don't use too much. these are "boosts" to your golfer, which can be helpful especially when your golfer is just starting out. the XP pin is great, because you can "level up" sooner...

COINS are something you are rewarded with at the end of each round, and you just compile them like money. then, when you have 6000 coins, you can buy a round at a course that is Download COntent - for free! i think it's a cool feature. you can also use coins to buy pin packs, which like i said earlier, can help you get your golfer stronger, faster...

    hope that helps!

That does help. Thanks. I haven't owned a Woods game since 11, so a lot of this is new.

      A couple more questions...

Basically the coins are steroids. I don't have to use them to build my golfer, right?

How many times can you use a coin?

Can I just join a CC and not be obligated to play against others? I just don't think I'll have time.

coins are like $, once spent, they are gone. pins are the "steroids" -

and yes, everything you do, offline or on, counts towards "credit" with the country club, which earns you more coins...

I would expect nothing less from my nemesis...lol

and it's not the whole course of Bethpage that I hate with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns (I am looking at you Hole 15)

Yes, but only in the career mode (Road To The PGA Tour).

Wow, putting is a pain the $@#.

Driving, approach shots - I've got those pretty well, but putting?? Good grief.

Are there any tutorials out there?

Regarding Country Clubs...are there ones with different skill levels? I'm interested in joining the one for PS3 OSers, but I'm afraid I'd drag them all down. I can barely play on the Pro level.

Can you just search for some online and send a request in?

It takes practice. I'm an avid TW golfer and it took me about 3-4 weeks of playing before I really got the hang of it. Once you get that it actually will seem easier than in the past. (At least IMO)

There are private and public CCs. The public ones you can just join. The private ones if they have it enabled, you can petition to be accepted into the CC.

As far as the difficulty of the CC, it doesn't necessarily mean that they only play on that level, but that is usually their preferred difficulty. (at least in my experience)

let's say a CC is set at the Pro level...

then the majority of what they do for the CC is played at those settings but individual tournaments can be set at different settings. Usually the CC moderators will say in advance when things are changed up (at least ours do)

I don't have a lot of time to play online as part of a CC, so does what I do offline help the CC, or is strictly what I do online in my CC's tournaments or events?

Any rounds you complete in Play Now or Career Mode count towards your CC. You technically never need to play any of the CC Tournaments or Dailies to contribute effectively.

Thanks. If I joined I sure don't want to get booted.

In order for those rounds to count, do I need to play them at the same level offline as the level at which the Country Club is set? If I play Pro or Tour Pro and the CC is set for Tournament level, will my rounds count?

Yep, all counts, any setting, even if different from CC settings (those settings are just for CC tournies and dailies).
